Good Day Fanatics

I have had the misfortune (fortune) of having my car in a state of written off (R.I.P) and im in the market for a E90 320d auto. Problem is I don't know what to look for mechanically.
If there is anyone that can help me that would be great
The specific model im Looking For is a BMW 320d 2010+ MSport Silver if you know of anyone or if you are that person i would appreciate the offers im open to anything.

Another question that i have is once i own the vehicle what do i do after that, what should i look for, is there any specific things i should keep my eyes out, and when it comes to modifications whether it be Aesthetic or Performance what are the main ones i should lookout.

Regards
N

320d is a good choice.

1. Ensure it has a complete service history, oil changes are vital. Most timing chain failures are due to long oil service intervals.
2. If it's post April 2010, then it's the 135kw 380nm.
3. Vibration dampener pulley, vbelt and tensioner. These parts generally fail in the region of 150 000km. See to it that it has been replaced, or that you replace it asap. You did not mention the odo reading.
4. Check for coolant leak, most likely coolant flange failure.
5. Gearbox service @ ZF. Reported cases of unserviced gearboxes going beyond 300 000km. If after inspection it's safe to do so, do it right away. After a certain mileage, gearbox services are not advisable.
6. Decat/downpipe, egr and swirl flap delete. Do it asap. With a stage 1 file you will see 20kw-30kw and 100nm gain.
7. Inspect control arms. The are a total of 4 control arms on the front axle. Also, shocks and mountings.

Take your time and goodluck with the purchase
