Dear All,

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
I am new to the forum and needed some advice.
I have come across a bmw 320d m SPORT, 2010 with 70000km on the clock, FSH as well, asking price R190k, my question is, is this a reasonable price to pay for such a car? What should I be paying?

For a looked after car, range is R110k to R140k
for a rare specced car that is well looked after, you'd pay around R140k to R160k
For a car that might tear your pockets after purchase...look at anything below R100k. you do find at odd occasions a once-off special at R90-R100k, but in general I prefer to pay more for a decently looked after car than a cheap wreck.

For R190k , has to be a 330d with low mileage and heavy specs.
(i) Navigation
(ii) Xenons
(iii) High-beam assist
(iv) twin arm rest
(v) paddle shifts on steering
(vi) M-Sport , should have noted this one first.
(vii) Upgraged software / down pipe
(viii) Sunroof
(ix) Approx ~75 000km
(x) Upgraded sound system (Harman or HI-FI logic)

Hiya again,

I wanted to add to my post that I am looking at this particular vehicle because of the reviews I read, these vehicles are reliable, good consumption, decent power and not that expensive to maintain, I'm not sure about 330D thou, sounds like a faster car,but what about maintenance? Plus my budget is about R150k, any opinions and or advice is highly appreciated. I drive 35km to work and 35km back home, Monday's to Saturday's, there's not much traffick going and coming,so the car will be used for this purpose, commuting to work and back.

Hi again,

Just a quick update, so the dealer wont budge, he wont move from R190, not even to R185, the bank wont finance as the price is just to much for the year model, but Im still stuck on this vehicle, it just looks so clean, immaculate. I have been seraching online and cant find another car like this, I find newer cars with more kilos and the guys want more, but for this particular model, they hard to come by, so again, I ask is it worth it? even at this price? :withStu:eek:r should i be patient and just keep searching?:dunnoanymore: or if anyone knows of 320d m sport for sale please lemme know...:eek:mgwaiting: :roflol:

Exactly what @VinceM said. If I may add my 2c, tbh for that kind of money you're much better off looking at a 330d or even a 335i as you will be getting so much more car. The 20d's are really great and very reliable, but that price is outrageous to say the least :fencelook:

For a good (well looked after, good history, excellent condition) 320d 2010 (LCI) with 70k km, R160k might not be too far a stretch. With about 120k to 140k km they sell for R140k to R150k. The cars with chips and nicks, and generally poor interior will go for R100k to R120k.

R190k is a stretch.

Hiya again,

I wanted to add to my post that I am looking at this particular vehicle because of the reviews I read, these vehicles are reliable, good consumption, decent power and not that expensive to maintain, I'm not sure about 330D thou, sounds like a faster car,but what about maintenance? Hi,

I got myself a 2010 E90 330d Auto about three months ago, and the maintenance is not much different than the 320d - Filters and Oil cost roughly the same. Fuel economy for me is 6-6.7 l/100km driving to work and back 100 km to work and 98 km home - However if you drive hard in town that figure will drop to 7.5 l/100km before you catch yourself.

Rather get the 330d, much more car, not that much more cost.

Thank you for the reply and links

I have seen these posts.

I am looking for a 320d, m sport yes, price range max R160k, kilos to be around the 70k mark.

Love the way the 330D m sport looks, and after reading the above posts on cost to maintain maybe I should consider this and raise my budget up a bit to R200k.

This is going to be hard to find, even more so on the 330d in your prospective price bracket.. Good luck

EISH! LOL! Im kinda getting mixed opinions than from earlier posts...as most guys have said that the car I want is way over priced and at that price I could get a 330D...(BTW the bank wont approve the deal either as they to say that it is over priced)

Lemme provide a link to the car that I am looking at...

http://www.gautengmotors.co.za/bmw-3-series-320d-sport-a-t-e90-used-pretoria-tshwane-gau_vid_6934575

@EBZ911, Think of it this way: A higher model in the range, commands an inherent premium (335i>320i/330d > 320d).. Couple that with this general principle: The lower the mileage, the higher the price.. These are mutually inclusive events...

Example: A low mileage 320d (<80k mileage) will cost around the same as mid-mileage (120k mileage) 330d, all things being equal.. I would rather spend R200k on a mid mileage 330d than a low mileage 320d, but that's personal preference. Maybe mileage means more to you than power, or msport means more to you than exclusive, etc, etc.

I would never buy a car from that dealership, but that's just me.. Have a read here: https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=90022&highlight=gauteng+motor
