Any advice as to what went wrong? I was driving from Kimberley to Postmasburg when the oil light came on yellow. A few km further the water light came on and the car overheated in a second.... All the oil was in the water. Any advice?? Someone suggest a blown oil cooler? The car is still running 100% smooth when I start it. I can't drive it because it overheats though.

I towed it home and I will start stripping today to see what is wrong. Hopefully not too serious.

Okay, but its very easy to see the difference between, blowing a head gasket and your oil cooler/heat exchanger going....If your head gasket went, you will have water in your oil, so take out dipstick and you'll see water mixed with the oil(even in your coolant water). If the oil cooler went, you won't have water in your oil, but rather oil in your water, so now if you check your dipstick, oil will be fine, but if you check your radiator, you'll have the oil mixing with water there. My mum's 2005 320d oil cooler went twice.

In that case it is the oil cooler for sure. The oil in the engine contains no water whatsoever. But the radiator is overflowing with oil. Where is the oil cooler situated if I may ask?

I started stripping last night and ended up stripping my already short temper more than any of the spares on the car..... How on earth do you get the bottom bolt closest to the engine out without loosing half your fingers??? For the death of me I am unable to get this bolt out, so I'm going to attemp to remove the complete oil filter housing instead... Any advice??
