Hey guys,

I bought 1M taillights last night for my 135i, i got home and couldn't wait to fit them, i took my original lights out and fitted the new 1M lights but there are no lights coming on at all and my dash is giving me warning lights. Do they need a canceler or has anyone ever fitted them before who can give me a hand?

Cheers guys!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

I have been playing around and i have got all the lights to work but the LED strip is not coming on, does anyone know where the LED strip plugs in or how it gets power?

Hi, nope no Xenon, they nice but quiet expensive

My car is a 2008 and its facelift, not pre facelift. Do I need to purchase a footwell light module to get the LED's working, i see the 1M does not have a connection for the Led where my standard lights do

Hi bud.
Firstly if you have a 2008 then you have a pre-facelift.i have a 2010 and mine is still a pre-facelift.the newer models have the eyebrow-headlights which we don't.:tiptoe:

Second: you need xenons to make the blackline taillights work 100%.if you don't have xenons then the LED strips won't work afaik.this is what I found out after some research.
I am lucky enough to have xenons and when I installed my blacklines, I had no problems.

Ps: the lights should have two connectors each.does yours only have one?

Good luck bro

2009 build, halogen stock lights, and the xenon lci taillight were plug and play for me. If it helps anyone.

Afaik only the cars that were facelift (2010+) and which came with halogen lights had issues and they weren't just plug and play.

Mine has 2 connectors which are exactly the as my standard light, they plug right in and work, it's just the LED that doesn't work. My standard light has got a positive and negative on the brake light globe which light up the 3 line LED on the standard light, but the 1M taillight doesn't? Does your M1 taillight have the +&- on the black light globe?

Read people. All the info you need is in the thread I linked. :hammerhead:

To summarise:
- If you bought the correct set, i.e. the kit with part no. ending in 282 it will work on ANY E82 regardless of year model, xenons, etc. This is plug and play, no further hardware or coding required.

- If you bought the incorrect set (of which there are 2 varieties), i.e. left and right lights with separate part numbers. You'll need to have factory Xenons installed OR (sometimes AND if your model is older) install the newer footwell module (which will likely cost you more than a set of the correct lights).

Now phat187, which set did you buy?

Changing taillights is child's play you can do that yourself.

Headlights. You have two options. 1 get oem xenons. You're looking at 6k - 20k depending new or second hand, OEM bulbs and ballasts or after market and which headlights you opt for the ones with the brow are typically more expensive.

Or you can have some open the headlights and retrofit whatever you want into them. Angel eyes, projectors whatever you want. This is probably your cheaper option.

Don't forget new footwell module for the OEM route. Big cost right there. Unless you can find someone who can code the stock halogen FRM which may or may not be possible.

I have not heard of one which cannot be coded for xenon's. Even my 07 e90 I coded. All that's needed is for xenon's to be added to the VO and the car rewrites itself for xenon's. It's actually very easy. The hardest part is getting working sw.
