Obviously a tuned car will take a stock car any day. Hell a tuned 135 will take a stock M3. I've seen vids of tuned 335s taking on M5s, uno turbos killing AMGs, Ford Escort breaking 1/4 mile record times... If you base a car's worth on Straight line speed then you have obviously chosen the wrong brand. M cars, including all other BMW are all about handling. Thats why Mercedes and Audi have better power figures but BMW always outshines them on the track!

Yes but thats exactly it, an // M car has NEVER EVER been just about straight line performance. Its a big step forward from suspension to brakes, to steering feel, to throttle response to lateral grip etc etc etc.. its how they make it all come togther, sure a tuned n55 can be faster then the 1M, but thats not what the 1M is about, if straight line speed and no feel, handling or anything else is what u after, buy an audi, i mean vw, i mean seat, eish i get confused.

I totaly agree with both of you an M car is not just about speed its about all the other things that add up to make it one of the best all round cars you can buy in my opinion. i dont think anyone should buy an M car just to smoke any car off the line because you wont always succeed. i was simply saying that whoever buys this car musnt think that he is buying the fastest car in the world because he will soon realise that he is wrong..... but im almost a 100% sure that whoever buys this car has got the knowledge that its an awesome awesome car and that you wouldnt need to prove yourself buy being "fast". either way whoever bought this car congrats!! i would probably of done the same if i could:thumbsup: BMW FTW save driving people:thumbsup:

Yeah but already the reviews say it has lots of power but lacks the X factor - something special, it will be fast in a straight line(and we know how hard this is to achieve...... cough 1400 bakkie turbo cough...) and understeer its life through the bends, it will cost a premium - and only have a more aggressive body kit with no aerodynamic improvements.
And while some may argue that robot to robot is all they need, its not what M is about and Audi can keep the straight line racing title. True enthusiasts know what // M is and true enthusiasts will never buy a front heavy understeering elephant of a car..
