Wsup everyone,

Latest is that my cylinder head's warped beyond tolerance but my block is fine. Where can I get a good 2nd hand replacement that I CAN afford. My mechanic says I'm looking at around R5-6k, is he on the money?

Any other advice for me, or can I be confident that a head swap will solve all my problems. I've bought a new gasket (stealers) and I'm getting a new waterpump (stealers). Also bought the head bolts and valve stem seals (all new - stealers).

Hey guys ANY suggestions are most welcome I'm reaching desperation point! Tempted to shelve the project, I almost went out and bought a Golf 5 earlier this week...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh sorry, my bad.

can't help you with the head, sorry bud, but please don't shelve the project. You have come this far. Ask me, I know about wanting to shelve a project (The POFS and I.)

Do it for the car. .. and you of course.

Last thing I want to do is shelve it but, at this rate I'll still be using public transport in December...that's not on...

Anyway it all depends now on how much I'm looking at to get it on the road. Over and above the head I still need new shocks (maybe even springs too), a spare wheel/tyre, and wheel bearings (front).

But honestly that Golf's looking good right now...:bawling:

I traded my Golf 5 GTI in last week, and I haven't looked back.

Quite frankly, I chose to drive my wife's e36 rather than my GTI.

But that's just me. To each their own I guess.

I fully understand! My intial buy was a 2006 118i, it was spotless AND had plenty of M/plan left. But I always wanted an E39 so I thought why not as a project! Anyway the Golf would take care of my transportation needs and then I'd slowly bring the 530i back on its feet...haven't taken the decision yet though.
