Blocked Catalytic / Diesel Particle Filter

Hi Guys,

Is the cat converter an diesel particle filter absolute essential on an E90 330d or can it be removed.
I've been advised that this is the root cause of the problem with my tractor. Apparently the temp sensors in the cat converter get to hot an cut the turbo boost.
Can the cat converter / diesel particle filter be cleaned or is it another $$$ for the local dealer.

Depending on age of car the DPF will clean itself.
The system is designed to meassure Delta p before and after the DPF and if higher than threshold inject fuel (Diesel) into DPF to burn carbon off.

If you have a relative "old" car with high milage and were using "bad" fuel i.e. the 500ppm sulfur Diesel that we get, your DPF can be blocked by other substances and the burn off cycle will not work anymore.

The DPF is NOT needed for perfect functioning of your car.
It is neccessary for keeping emissions under control for counties with strict emissio laws.
Places like Alexandra, Soweto or any other settlements blow more carbon i our air than ALL our diesels together could do in their lifetime.

Resolution: Take it off, get a downpipe installed and your software adjusted to avoid error messages (or your DME will still try to do the Delta p adjustments and inject loads of diesel and wasting your money).

Promotec Performance software will not only cater for the deDPF mod you've done but also set your car on request to better fuel economy or power or even a mix of both (see Dippies car)

So my advice is: DO IT :idea:

Obviously the DPF sensors will be disabled as there is no need for them anymore

Awesome advice, the car is not under MP with 106,000 kms on the clock.
It was bought new by a lady in Bedford view so chances it was a Moms Taxi or was used in city driving. I'm the third owner of this car an just want to see IT GETTING THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES.
