awesome man! uiteindelik! Glad you went spits, whats the pros and cons so far? must be an absolute hoot!
Hello Psymon69,
Pros.
Performance, Fuel Economy, Reliability, Engine Replacement value,

Cons.
ABS EBD unit had to be relocated
2 ABS EBD hydraulic line had to be replaced (From brake master cylinder)
Fuel filter & fuel lines HAD to be rerouted (Now in passenger side fender)
Propshaft or Sideshaft CVjoints now have a viabration that needs to be diagnosed & fixed.
Airlock in engine: Because the engine is higher than the BMW’s Radiator it must be bled constantly on the engine itself (Thermostat housing) but if the airlock are out, its fine)
Custom engine mountings, rear pickup sump, exhaust manifolds must be custom made (I moved my engine as back as I could to improve handling ect.)
Electronics: My fuel consumption meters on Cluster & OBC doesn’t work.
My ABS EBD error code (Fault because of relocation of EBD)
Airconditioning reply issue
Relocate window washer bottle to Left (Sensor, pump relocated)

MMMM, My total cost for the conversion to date is R36 668-00, Including the engine that I ordered from 'Engines & More' for R6500. I had a guy (Fana) from Pretoria West do the Transmission bell-housing conversion for me, BUT in the end he SCREWED me. So it would be fare to deduct R8000 from the total mentioned above. (PS. The total above exclude labor, because I did 90% of the labor myself.)

The car is using the ORIGINAL BMW E36 MANUAL GETRAG TRANSMISSION, They changed the BELL-HOUSING to fit on the V8 engine.

The aircon is now located on the passenger side of the engine compartment (Original E36 is on the drivers side), Wiring and high pressure lines relocated to the passenger side and attached to lexus AC compressor. I just need to get the system pressure tested & refilled. (Wasn't an urgent matter for me, had to check everything out 1st)

That's not a bad amount. For a Flippen V8 E36. Awesome stuff.

Do you have a LSD fitted? Manual, V8, rear wheel drive.. pure awesomeness

I have driven BMWs all my life! The first BMW in the family was bought in 1979!

Ever since then, we have had BMWs - I will never drive another car BUT I WOULD DO THIS CONVERSION TODAY!

I love it! If I had the spare cash I would convert my E34 M20 now! I just love it! Ever since seeing Racing Snake's E30 on the Charity Run, I have been sold!

It's such a fascinating, interesting and amazing conversion to me - the idea of a reliable, cheap V8 that is so smooth, the way everything fits and the economy of it all. It may not be pure BMW but for one who doesn't have megabucks to doctor a BMW V8, this is just brilliant!

Hopefully, I will post pics of my black E34 with this motor next year! I love it! :inlove:

E36 with blown engine : R20k
LSD : R3k
Suspension & brakes : R15k
Lexus V8 conversion : R40k

Awesome V8 powered rear wheel drive : ABOUT R70 k

Then add turbos once you get bored..

If I had an extra R40k I would so do this to my car. Would need an extra car too while it gets built.

Then if the engine blows, only R6k for a new one.

Its actually the original E36 328i Diff (But the topic is open for much debate, some say the original diff is LSD, But ETK doesn't specify that the 328I or the M3 actually came with LSD?)

She is an absolute pleasure to drive (Full of life!!!, a lot of life)

Only hassles so far was with the clutch hydraulics: Had to replace the clutch master with an aftermarket one (Original ones kept failing)

Had to upgrade the clutch slave cylinder piston to a Toyota High ace cylinder as-well. (BMW cylinder 1 rubber seal, Toyota seal 2 rubber seals)
