Bike Night / Breakfast Run V2

Red-Star as a destination is great, I'm not too sure what the alternative routes are like, not sure I want to ride to places where the majority of the trip is motorway, and coming from the Vaal, I already face that challenge going most places north, hence the recommendation to Val. Anyway, that's my view, lets see what the rest of the lads have to say.

Very true! The route to Red Star is pretty much boring highway doesn't matter which side you come from.
But, if we go there I could potentially get all you guys hooked on track days and then we can have some real fun :smilebounce:

That would be great.

What are the requirements to partake in such a track day.

Clothing: Full leathers?
Helmet: C Clip / Quick release / Buckle?
Boots: Short or full?
License: Full or learners?

Red Star is not fussy at all about those things. The requirements IIRC are as follows.

Clothing: Full leathers isn't a must. I did my first few track days in my ADV suit.
Helmet: I think a double 'D' shackle is mandatory, but not strictly controlled.
Boots: Any
License: None required.

How a track day normally goes at Red Star is registration opens at 08h30 where you fill your details on a form and pay for the day. Riders briefing at 08H45 explaining a few safety details etc. and the different flags. And Bob's your uncle racing starts at 09h00. They normally do a quick scrutineer of your bike and that's it.

Cool, I'm keen for this thing too

Hopefully the egomaniacs will give the slower riders a fair chance to get through the corners before blasting past :tiptoe:

They have different groups, so slow or beginner riders go into C group.

Cool, so in the interest of starting small, should we plan a ride out to meet, greet and spectate? Then next time we head on track. Mind you, how often do these track days occur?

What about 2 / 3 March, is there anything happening at Red-Star then?

Red Start normally has track days every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

They vary between bike only, bike & car, and car only. Usually weekends are reserved for bike only track days with a few exceptions.

Riders are split into three groups A, B and C.
In C (Novice) group overtaking is only allowed on straights.
In B (Experienced) group overtaking is allowed on straights and around the outside of corners.
In A (Pro) everything goes.
There are marshals in B and C groups to check things out and give you advice.

All of this is usually covered in the riders briefing as well.

The fortunate thing about time is, there is always more of it, yes, a day only has 24 hours, but tomorrow there's 24 more.....

So, if you're keen, suggest a date that will suit you. Perhaps it will also suit the greater group...

I'm more than happy with this.
3rd March works for me

I don't mind the date. So everyone that has busy schedules, suggest what suits you.

Its a pity that Phakisa is so far out and Lami is so expensive these days.

RStar as a track is horrible.

A proper fun weekend away was always out E.T side for the more adventurous.
