Okay seeing as this is a BMW forum I apologize ahead of time. But it is also the most active forum I am part of and seeing as we have a few bike enthusiasts on here I am going to try.
As most know I ride a 2005 Hyosung GT 650 R, and yes not the best or most powerful bike but I love it and it goes when I need it.
Now for the problem.
After my first little accident in May the bike started to sputter around 5000 rpm, so result was either stick with it till round 7000 where it will stop or never go over 100k/h.
Took the bike to the local shop and guy tunes me the carbs are done for as the air fuel mixture screws can't be adjusted.
Got the bike back and was a lot better for about a week. Then I found out the fuel tap diaphragm is shit and when the bike is off it drips fuel into the oil. Got a new one(or rather a similar one from another bike manufacturer) and replaced all the oil and fitted a manual fuel tap on the line.
And before we could really see if it will go away we had another small accident with the bike where a guy just stopped in front of my brother in law and then chased of.
Well took a month or 2 to get all the needed parts that broke and bent replaced and fixed but bike just cranked and didn't start.
So many hours tinkering and cleaning bike started, rode to work once no hassles on the way back the sputtering started again next day bike didn't start. Again.
With again a lot of fiddling and cleaning got the bike running. Not perfect yet but running. Started 2 days in a row. Although the second day she did take a few tries and heavy adjustment of the idling screw.
Took a day cleaned her up put all fairings and such back on. When trying to start her the night to move her into her parking space bike idled at 3000rpm and no matter how I turned that didn't want to go down.
Thinking okay maybe the choke got stuck I'll fix it in the morning. Next day we used the battery for another bike as mine was charged and working. Got battery back and no luck bike just cranks don't swing.
Last week with everything of and wiring harness checked I tried again this time with spraying quickstart into the carbs, bike sounded like it wanted to start so fitted airbox and fuel tank back, pressed the button one backfire and back again to just cranking. No I must also mention over the few months I have the bike it would randomly give loud backfires on startup and when letting go of throttle it would rumble with little backfires as its slowing down.
So far I tested the stator, regulator/rectifier, all relays, swapped out the 2 fuses, checked the 2 coils as well as swapped out the coils, plugs and plug points, and even though the bike sparks I still suspect the cdi but have no real definite way to test it.
Bike gets fuel and sparks but no luck in starting tried push starting it it sounds like it wants to start but as soon as you apply throttle it dies.
Anybody know where I can start to test or what could be the cause of this?
Any info or advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanx.
