A bit of background first.

I first met Oscar some 7 years ago when he allowed me to make use of his facilities at Forza to have my front suspension measured by POWERBRAKE so that they could make radial arm brackets for my calipers.

A thoroughly good chap as well as customer centric.

His car came in for the usual vanos and clearances and here are a few pics.

The car is definitely one of the quickest cars I have driven although a bit loud.
Getting my big fat Greek ass into those girly seats was equally a challenge....Oscar I hope I have not stretched the seat :)

Motor is really well settled and clean with good compression.

We discarded all the critical bolts for new ones as the car spends a considerable part of its life at high revs.

Gearbox bolts were also replaced.

Oil pump drilled.

and assembled

Girly seats

Manly brakes

All in all a very quick car which lights up the DSC constantly and holds the road like it is on rails.

I love those wheels!

A brief history...

I've been very fortunate to be involved in the motor game for the last 15 years. From my early days of modifying my first golf mk2 to starting my racing career in SUPERHATCH, to my first job as a spanner boy at Zwartkops, to 5 years as an advanced driving instructor for Audi, BMW, MERC, to starting and running FORZA racing, to service manager at Viglietti Motors and now my final resting place as service manager at ZAMBESI Auto BMW.

I've been blessed to have owned/modified/built MANY special cars including a CSL, 2x EVO 9, turbo birkin 7 and now finally my track day toy Z4M just mention a few, there was even an Alfa GT JUNIOUR 1750 in there...

On this journey I've met many people in both the OE and the aftermarket game. I can say with confidence that there are many characters out there that talk the talk BUT there is only a VERY LIMITED few that can say they WALK THE WALK.

Uncle Peter is most DEFINATELY one of only a very select few in SA in the aftermarket that I can honestly say I would trust with my pride and joy.

His knowledge, professionalism and PASSION is second to none!!!

This isn't a "blow smoke" up his GREEK ASS session but rather a genuine heart filled THANK YOU for a really impressive job on my car. I must admitt I wasn't convinced that there was that much to be improved on as my car was strong all be it a nice flat spot at 3k rpm however since the VANOS WHISPERER fettled with my car it is another story all together.

Improvements:
Car starts easier
Valve train is dead quite, sounds like he swopped the shims for hydraulic lifters
Less throttle required to pull away
No more flat spot at 3k
Huge improvement on throttle response below 4k rpm
Huge improvement at 4k rpm torque
Car pulls to 8k rpm like a freight train

I know it's expensive but I can confidently say its worth every cent...

And I have NO doubt the dyno is gonna show just how much better the engine is performing!!!

Thank you uncle Peter

Oscar thank you for the kind words, truth be said I had a good base from which to work.
Your car really is quick......certainly the fastest one that I have driven.

Ah, Style 219M wheels.

Funny that the Service Manager of a dealership with a dedicated ///M division would use Sir Greek for this instead of his own workshop. :dropjaw:

had my 323i at zambizie once, never again,so I can understand why the service manager doesn't trust his own dealership,or any other dealership

Guys I do not think that the point of this thread is to compare dealer service levels but to rather celebrate a quick Z4M that is used in an unorthodox manner as a track toy come daily driver.

Besides the work that I do is done on the basis of "take as long as you want" as opposed to a mechanical workshop that is by necessity pushed for time.

In closing I am an enthusiast and I do this for the love of the cars....I often wonder what level of work I would produce if this was my only source of income and was dependent on turnover to meet my financial commitments.

Please let us keep it on topic.

LOVING those rims on the Z4. I find it's one of those few cars that rims can match, and that graphite look on the rim suits the black perfectly, looks like a stealth fighter!

Peter, I must come and meet you in person sometime, just to marvel at your workmanship if nothing else.

That Z4MC looks the business....I know a Hyundai i10 that might wanna race....:roflol:

As always,top work Peter!

Contrary to your belief, this is a feather in your cap, Sir Greek.

And yes, setting valve clearances on the S54 is time consuming, but yet it is still on the service schedule, and one would expect that it would be done properly at a dealership. We all know that the dealerships will not replace VANOS seals or "fix" the VANOS rattle. They will just replace the complete VANOS units.

Excellent work as always.
