Cool trade/upgrade....:coolShake:

Are you still using the oem head unit or did you change for an aftermarket unit?

Nice trade
But a bit much for me to be honest
would prefer it in matched carpet/stealth install without the mesh etc
must sound awesome though

Sounds really cool. That was my concern after I saw what they did. I simply wanted the speakers mounted neatly.

No worries though. They gave me a nice carpet/mat that goes over the logo etc. So all is well.

OK because of the rev fluctuations I have decided (listening to people) to purchase a new MAF.

Well I will NOT be going with BMW (What a bunch of cons). Almost R8000 for this thing!

I went to Goldwagen in Roodepoort as I was there and I paid....Yes wait for it...R2000. This is for the whole unit not just the sensor.

6k cheaper. I might have gotten it cheaper still if I shopped around but hey.

Now can someone tell me if I can simply install this, looks pretty straight forward, or must I get a tech to do it? There are no fault codes that need to be reset.

Thanks

just wondering if you did a scan first and if any errors popped up before deciding it was the MAF?

Very simple, Disconnect battery, remove maf, you might as well clean up the pipes running to that area as well, fit new maf reconnect battery, and enjoy :=):

Excellent. Thank you for the heads up on the battery disconnect. I would not have done that.

Thanks again.

It’s not completely necessary but I just do it as best practice when working with any electronics :=):

A new update. Been a while.

Still wanting to do swirl flap blanking etc but it was stolen or LOST IN THE POST twice now. So I have given up.

This part it is to show you how important it is to replace the turbo vacuum tubes.

Had them replace for a R800. Not to bad then I took my car for a dyno run. I used exactly the same machine as the last run.

A reminder:

488 nm / 194kw

After new tubes:

519 nm / 189 kw

Got to love it!

Could be due to atmospheric changes and or fuel used. But im thinking the spike in kw was because the vacuum leak induces lag and the turbine wheel will overspeed momentarily as the nature of the vacuum system is slow to respond compared to the newer electric actuation. I have no doubt the car is now much faster on the road.
