Mmm ok fair enough, I get it no matter what the outcome of whatever test the M135i will be the better car, because... Just because hey?
Lol im starting to get the logic.
Everyone has been going on about the M135i not being a proper M car yet its easier to drive and faster than the 1M in many situations???Like Mr Harris quite rightly stated in his comparison of the M135i and the Audi RS3.. " if it sounds like an ///M and goes like an ///M, then it must be an ///M". Also its a newer car with later tech in it which is understandable and also expected. The 1M isn't that much faster around a track either, in fact is minuscule and there are tracks that the M135i has faster lap-times including the Nürburgring , so if they compared the A45 with just the 1M every BMW driver would be whining about it being older , so again, there is no pleasing some people.
One has to look at what is on offer now, the M2 will only be out in 2015 and by then the A45 will be more than 2 years old, are you going to have the same comment in defense of the Merc if it turns out to be faster than the M235i which is also not a proper M car? I think not. By that time The A45 black series will be here with over 300kw and 500Nm... Mmm somehow I don't think your anticipated annihilation will happen quite so easily, it will be a closely fought battle.
I cant understand that some of your guys are blindly bias and find every possible excuse to undermine a great little car. As a fellow petrol-head and BMW fan I find it little narrow minded in the exact same manner when many people on here will shoot the Renault Meganne RS down as not being a drivers car, yet the RS around a track is very fast and in some cases faster.
This brings the question: what exactly is a "drivers car" then? Is it about the controllability and reward from a car around a track? The engine sound being a pure nirvana to the drivers ears? Or the ease with which it handles everyday driving? Or is it just becoming an excuse to discredit another car as being inferior if it loses out on some aspect of a driving?
The sound being better in the M135i: hope your not referring to the FAKE sound being played through the sound system of the M135i?. Anyone can make a car sound great if you play fake engine sounds through a stereo system. A bit disappointed that no one wants to bring that up with the sound debate and just shoot the A45's sound down as sounding bad, trust me in real life it sounds a LOT better than on you tube (Trust me on this one) I love the straight 6 engine sound but was upset to find out BMW found it fit to make majority of the sound one hears inside fake, why not just fit a better exhaust system? (Make mental note to self to include this as excuse for the lesser "drivers car" comment) because id rather want the real sound than some sound box playing over my stereo. We could go further and play V8 AMG sounds through the A class's sound system too. Will that help ease pain?
Im not picking fights with anyone and I'm not trying to discredit any car. My opinion is that the A45 is wonderful car that, to my eye looks and goes better than the current offer from the Bmw corner, even as a drivers car, because I'm a driver and the things I enjoy in a car, it will offer in bucket loads . Thats all. I mean credit where it is due, this is Mercs first attempt at an AMG in the compact class segment and as a first attempt its a pretty bloody excellent first go.
I am a big BMW fan and nothing will change that but I'm also a realist and petrol head.
With that in mind just remember "///M" is only one letter in " AMG"
