ASC light

Good day,
I have a simular issue, I have a 1998 328i, Car was in a major smash & for repairs the ABS & ASC unit had to be removed. It did'nt bother me for 2 years now. But im thinking of installing the ABS Pump & ASC unit again. I tried testing the unit by pluging it back into its harness. Switched the ignition back on & started the car. ABS & ASC light stays on. And ASC on/off switch doesn't have any effect on the lights what so ever. All of the ABS speed sensors have been replaced & is connected properly. All electronical wireing is hooked up. The only thing not connected is the hydrolic distrubution pipes. Any advice?

The ECU registered that it has lost comms, which means you will need the fault cleared.

Interestingly though, if you removed the pump, how are you doing the brake distribution ?

Currently I'm using the brake distribution pipes from a 1992 316I (NON ABS) no brake distrubutor. I want to change everything back to the original ABS + ASC distrubutor, everything electronical is connected, ACS on throttle, speed sensors on all the wheels. Only brake distrubutor and distrubution pipes not connected, Isn't there another way to clear fault codes manually? without having it cleared by agents? :dropjaw:

Hi
Did you manage to sort it out? I have the same issueon my e39 525 2001 ...now the speedo, cruise control, abs have all failed. it happened gradually, one failure after another took place. the agents say its the hydro control unit R15k to replace

some of the ABS control units on the E39 can be repaired with a guarantee afterwards. An electronics fundi does it in Cape Town. approx R2.5K

Thanx, I'm living in Rustenburg, North-West. But won't have a problem traveling. Yes, I'did store the unit in a safe place, just for backup, I've got a extra unit stil in a car that i'm using for spares. Do you have like equipment or stuff to clear the codes? I'm going to keep your guys posted on this "Project" Because I actually "Reborn" this BMW, It was a front smash & rolled over car. Used everything from the car, rebuild it into a empty shell. Had overcome countless issues, but car's been driving for 2 years now, everything works (Even original alarm), All but ABS - ACS & an anoying 'CHECK CONTROL INACTV - SEE OWNERS MANUAL' Message. This acctually worked a while after the car was completed.

Enjoy your day!

I have a problem with 99 523i, The ASC & ABS light is on permanently, My cousing works for the bmw dealer here in Mafikeng and we hooked it up twice to DIS and we are not getting any readings, I got a quote for the whole HYDRO Unit and it is like 35K, the car is not even worth that. Anyone know of anyone as to how this could be solved. Will appreciate it......

I managed to bleed my ABS pump on my E34 using the software that I have.

It should also be fully compatable with an E46 so I am sure I can help, I can read codes and do a little bit more, if you take an ABS module from another car, its going to need to be coded, which I should be able to give you a hand with as well.

I am slightly occupied this weekend, but available next :p

Technically I can, but I am still a noob at this, and dont want to mess with the EWS on a running car, so I wont be attempting that one, unless its a scrapyard junker. it you lock out the E, you are screwed..
