No - not supplying anything

Just a normal service - oil etc!
Hope that he does not find anything else

Oil service would not be that expensive...

OEM FILTER=R150-200
OIL=R700 roughly (Shell Helix)

Labour will depend

It's impossible to guess the price, if it's going to an independent workshop who is supplying the parts and no one knows the labour charge, and also the extent of the service.

Can I suggest(as a mechanic) to let him confirm what he is doing(replacing)
some call a service (oil&filter change) while some all filters and plugs etc...
Is he going though whole vehicle? checking brakes, suspension and and..
A proper service is a lot more than just looking after the engine.
I did my spark plugs a while back and the were R65 each x 6(525i) these days some manufacturers leave plugs for 100 000km!

Thanks

Will do so

Have instructed him to do a complete check of the vehicle - will get an approximate price from him.

Service update on costs

Things that were done - Oil filter, castrol magnatec, park light globe, some consumables (R85) and labour (R780)

So the grand total including vat was R1800

So definately not bad - and the car feels like new again!!!

Since I do all the work on my Hyundai myself, I need to start including these consumables. Just don't think R85 will cover it, and perhaps I should leave the consumables till after the work is done.
