Having returned from a weekend trip to the Drakensberg yesterday afternoon I am really pleased with the performance of my E46 320 Individual. Travelled a total of 473 kms (round trip) between Durban and the Central Drakensberg with the fuel gauge now sitting just below half and the OBC showing that I can travel another 367 km's before next top up ..... rather ambitious of the OBC I think? Although this car is now 8 years old, she still performs beautifully and looks awesome.

Thanks BMW for building such a great machine!!

I can say the same for my e46, also 8 years old drove from Boksburg to Midrand today and i couldn't help but crack a smile; apart from all its ailments LOL the car still surprises me, i drove 120km/h on the N3/N1 north link around that bend and the car just wanted more.

these things are well designed and engineered must say I dont get the same responsiveness or exhilaration driving our e90 320i facelift i still get my kicks out of the e46. (I also think e46 is the best looking 3-series, no disrespect to the owners of other evolutions):mmm:

Eeufees... i know it. My dad stays behind the boerewors curtain :) But sadly the only car i have taken through there is his E class:bawling:
Next time i drive up and introduce beemer to Eeufees :pimp:

On the topic of loving our cars... i used my baby for our honeymoon trip and was blown away by the car yet again...

We filled up in PE and hit the road to knysna where we drove an awesome back road ( thank you Garmin ) which consisted of a winding road up the side of a mountian and was 50% smooooth dirt road ( i got to show the wife why we love and respect that little DSC button... and then got a :slap: around the ear hole when i showed her what the car does when button is pressed and held :mmm: )

We departed next morning for mossel bay and sat on highway with speedo cruise locked on 140.
Spent 5 days in mossel bay driving around in normal stop start traffic
Then shot back to George and up to Oudshorn for the Cango caves

I filled up in Goerge for the run to Cape Town... in George my tank was lowish... i had done 761km and OBC said i had another 150 to go

After CT we hit langebaan and back to CT then home to PE through Robertson valley

OBC said my fuel consump was 7.6 for the trip

I have to say i am still enjoying my first 4 pot beemer 8 months down the line... BMW got it right with the valvetronic motor if you ask me. I never thought i would enjoy the 4 pot this much after only owning 6 pots.

Sheer driving pleasure ! eh gents ?

My 2000 e46 318i, does a Jhb to dbn trip and back, at least twice a year. Goes great!

Still have just over 1/4 tank when i get to durbs. Driving between 120-140km/h.

I did JHB to Umhlanga in our 2004 E46 318iA and OBC said 7.2l/100 after the whole trip. Did 630Km to get there & the needle was still above half. could have returned on that tank but used up the rest in durbs while enjoying the coastal power increase :)

The 4 cyl BMW's are heavy in town driving but put them on the open road and the sip the fuel slowly.

My 1992 E36 316i can get about 900Km out the tank on open road.. but only 350km in town
and I appreciate her cause she is so old but does not use a drop of oil between oil services..
