so I'm kinda safe with an auto box in terms of SW?

Yeppers... however, we get the latest software updated (ECU and A/T gearbox) before we start working on the car (high performance conversions only, or if customers requests software update)

Sorry to jack thread - what would this software upgrade cost - I think I need this!!

According to Rolf BMW will update your car with the latest SW for R700 and then there's aftermarket SW which will cost you between R3.5k - R6k

I still want to confirm this with BMW on thursday

Hi guys,

On the way back from holiday yesterday my E90 330D AT started giving problems. I have a Yellow DTC light on in the cluster as well as an ABS light and from time to time I get a Red transmission light that comes on. As far as i know this means that the transmission is in limp mode.

Why would all of these light come on at the same time? I have googled it a bit and from what I can see it is possible that it could be anything from a faulty sensor to a shot gearbox.

Any help please I'm stressing out a bit now.

Thanks

Take it to sparklight gearboxes or ZF, they will be able to fix it for you. If you want worse service and double prices, take it to BMW (they also use ZF for rebuilt gearboxes on AFAIK.)

Lets hope its just a faulty sensor or CAS related. If under MP take it to the dealership.

Hi guys,
Just an update for you… Took the car to BMW Hatfield today, must say the service there was excellent. They ran a diagnostic check for me at no charge and came up with the following error: Overvoltage in DSC & Overvoltage in DDE

The service manager says that this means that the alternator is faulty. A replacement from BMW is R9500. Does this make sense?

I am considering taking it to someone else and have it fixed instead of replaced. Repair cost for this so far is +- R2000.
Your feedback is dearly appreciated.
