ALL TAR RALLY

Fanatics

I read about power-, suspension-, brake- and body trim upgrades, dicing other cars and trashing other cars in an endless quest to prove a ride is superior in one or more respects, all the time!!

Does it not all come together on a proper track, a safe road and a safe car, without putting yourself and other road users at risk?

I would like to put a challenge to all the fanatics who like to race, challenge others, enjoy their fast and great handling cars, to start to participate in the All Tar Challenge, presented by ARRO through the year at Four separate events on great road surfaces and race tracks.

What do you guys think? Three of the events are single stage events, at Zwarkops Raceway go-cart track, Boekenhoutkloof Test Center and the dynamic handling track at Gerotech. The fourth event is a combination of these stages including the Zwartkops race track, which are doubled-up, with day and night time racing!!

I guarantee that you will participate once, and never be the same ever again!

Let's hear from you....

Damn, this is what I have wanted to do for so ling now!

Straight line races bore me, I want apexes that challenge driver skill as well as machine.

My car might be slow, but that won't detract from the fun. That, and I need a reason for my 2.5' of negative camber.

I will see if I can't get a few of the MINI guys to join in as well.

Bring it on!

This will be a great series. Will be challenging I'm sure.

Ive done a few circuit track days and gymkana's and yes its loads of fun.

But for me, heads up racing in safe environments is where my joy is. Its by no means easier or less exciting than other forms of motorsport. To each their own, dont dismiss or shoot down what others enjoy.

Cars are tuned and setup differently for drag vs Track so taking a car setup for drag and racing it on a circuit may not he as easy as it sounds.

I would love to spectator some of these events.

This sounds awesome, however are the events timed events or are all the vehicles on the track at the same time? Zwartkops go kart track and the gerotek handling track are tiny to overtake on. Let us know how to sign up for such an event and hopefully I can join in the scooby if it is just timed events. Very excited

I like seeing some positive response to the thread. Even if your car can do 350kmh, you have not experienced FAST, if you have not taken on a proper race track!

Have a look at the ARRO website at www.arro.biz , and you guys can contact Kobus Groenewald at (082) 5663511.

He can furnish all the info you need.

Hoping to hear from more fanatics!

Hey Gert! Kry bietjie jou tjomme bymekaar!!

Seems like the first event is 12 March at the boekenhoutskloof testing facility, if I understand correctly.

I sent them an email requesting information regarding rules and requirements. I will post it up here when I receive a response.

I just spoke to Cobus, very nice guy.

He said the tar surface is close to perfect, so even very low cars will not have a problem.

The entry fee for the first race will be R550, this if for the club licence and even entry fee. The subsequent events will cost R250 as the licence is already paid.

Any car can participate. It doesn't have to be a race car. Only rule is that you can not carry a passenger if you don't have a roll cage.

A helmet is required.

The dates are : 12 March, 14 May, 30 July and 24 September.

Location: https://goo.gl/maps/FB38bw8MAXP2

This is a fun and relaxed event, that will not damage your car and a great way to to test your car. Two cars run at a time, starting at different sides, and cross over without possibility of contact. Everything will be timed.

Classes:
Group T1: 4WD Turbo/supercharged and spaceframe vehicles
Group T2: 2WD Turbo/supercharged and spaceframe vehicles
Group T3: 2WD N/A with engine capacity over 1600cc 16v
Group T4: 2WD N/A with engine capacity under 1600 8v

I will be participating in my MINI Cooper S, join in and lets get some BMWs on the podium!

So the first event will be this Saturday. Should be very interesting to see what the event is like.

It seems like it will only be me and maybe PSmit going.

Should be great fun at least.

I will take many pictures.

The Tar sprint scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed due to the weather. No track preparations can be done in this rain and it is has bee forecasted that rain will persist to Sunday. The last event we had in the rain at Boekenhoutskloof proved to be a huge challenge with the recovery of numerous vehicles. The event will be run on Monday the 21st of March which is a public holiday..Sunday being family day.Bring the entire family and come and enjoy the day with us
