Aircon problem

Hi..

I have a BMW 330D E46 model.
Lately the aircon has some kind of problem. If I switch on the aircon, left right and centre is ice cold but it blows warm air at the windscreen and the feet at the same time. If I close the top and bottom the air at the sides stays cold but the centre gets warmer. The temperature setting on this is 16.

If someone could give me an indication of what may cause this I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

You need to replace the thingamabob in the dash somewhere which I have just forgotten the name of and so you can ignore this post cos I just realised how useless I am right now.

Final stage resistor

I don't think it would be the fsr. That part is just for fan speed. What you should look at is the heater valve. Drive the car until up to temp. Then switch off ac. Keep temp settings at 16. If you feel any heat that would suggest the heater valve is not closing properly. Normally if heater valve stays open the aircon wont even say hello when the engine is warm.

Try and regas it first and start from there I would say

My car had a similar issue. Cold-ish through the middle vents but warm from the sides. I had a re-gas done and the issue was sorted out.

OP, Let us know when you get it fixed:coolShake:

The final stage resistor only controls the fan speed.

Mixed cold/warm air is typically the result of the R134 gas running low unless some of the flap motors are not working (which should be obvious).

If the gas is low, have it leak-tested and the leak fixed before re-gassing, otherwise all that expensive R134 will soon rejoin the atmosphere.
