Air Filters

Hey Guys,

I noticed how dirty my K&N Filter was in my car last night and thought id ask which performance filter was preferred by fellow fanatics. I honestly havent had an issue with my K&N(had it for 5years, havent cleaned it once), but my car doesnt feel like its breathing properly..almost feels like its got a slight blocked nose:nonono:

As i mentioned, i havent cleaned it properly yet, should i buy the K&N cleaning kit? or just get another filter??

Any advice will be appreciated :rollsmile:

You should clean them at every service, however they are known as MAF KILLERS because guys tend to over oil them when they clean them which in turn results in the maf being coated in a thin layer of oil....

my advice, your filter served you well for 5years

get your car a new one

K&N has a lifetime guarantee and can be cleaned or should be cleaned every year, i think. :rollsmile: If it were me i would just replace it. :thumbs:

I'm still new. But I say K&N. Also u shouldn't leave the filter so long without cleaning it.

I think with the stock one its just costly and u need to change more often. Also the K&N is life long so saving cost that you can use to upgrade engine lol. Also apparently k&n helps with better airflow.

Bud i clean mine every 15 000km. You buy the cleaning kit for R120.

Id rather pay R120 than R599 for a new one.

Just clean your K&N , and agreed clean it a bit more regularly.

I`ll go for cleaning it first and see what it does, most new performance filters comes with life time guarantees on.

I`ve got a B&M (Might have the name wrong) on in and just loving it so far.

Never had any mafs die, did have a slight improvement in response and consumption.

I put a BMC in my car about three weeks ago,and it's awesome. My fuel consumption has come down and I can feel there is a difference in the torque,not huge,but I can feel it. Worth every cent I paid.
