Aftermarket Warrantee

Hi all

I have read a few of the threads wrt aftermarket motorplans but most of you are saying to keep the money saved instead of spending it. I also noted that a lot of you have got the older models as well and I believe you can get parts for cheaper in Cape Town then I would for a F30 model.

I have got a 2012 F30 320d A\T paddleshift Sportline with 162 000 km on the clock. Still got about 2yrs of financing to go till the car is paid off and want to keep the car as long as possible as it drives very nice. Before the 100 000 km was due I got offered a TTS Warrantee plans from Donford BMW as an alternative to the BMW motorplan because of affordability. It will expire on 17 June 2017 if I decide not to renew. In the 62 000 km I replaced all the tyres and all 4 shocks at 140 000 km with normal 15 000 km oil changes. Nothing else was required and I think I spent about R28 000 in total for that as its not covered by the policy off course.

The attached picture is what they cover and I fall under plan C because of the high mileage. I mainly do a lot of daily driving to work and weekends I just drive for the fun of it.

I want to know if it's worthwhile to extend as they want R12 000 for the following 2yrs to cover. If I claim I need to pay for the diagnostics first (between R300-R900) then the report will be sent to TTS to decide to pay or not.

Thanking everyone's feedback in advance.

I say go for it. Not sure if the 320d's are problematic. I had a MotorMend warranty on a Mini Cooper S and boy did I need it. I paid about R15000 for the warranty and it paid out way more than that in repairs.

Try Sa warranty

You can pay monthly or once off.
I took the Monthly option with Sawarranty , mainly to cover myself if they
prove a hassle to pay up on a claim I can cancel the policy.

Also make sure the warranty can change ownership if you decide to sell.

Try Innovation as well. No hassles with them and they pay out. Also month to month with 15 year/300k km coverage. Decent cover as well.

Yes that's one of insurance groups I also tried to get hold of but their website https://www.innovation.group/ doesn't give much info. Do you have an email or contact details for them?

Hello everyone, thanks for all the feedback.

I called all of the above-mentioned insurances and NONE of them came back to me.

I was called by Donford BMW 3 days before the expiry date of the warrantee to extend and I decided to pay the R12 000 once-off for the 2yr deal.

Thanks again everyone.
