Hi Guys,

I am looking at buying a 2010 e90 320d with 89 000km on the clock. I wanted to get your guys feedback on the vehicle, I've driven the petrol version years back when my sister had one, but I am in need of a sedan and was considering this one. I would like you know your thoughts on the car, any common issues or anything I should look for when buying? I was told they are heavy on suspension components but not sure how true this is?

I would really appreciate your advice and thoughts.

pleeeenty of good and bad feedback on any car in the world.

google COMMON E90 320D FAULTS / PROBLEMS.

should give you a idea of the general problems you MIGHT encounter.

maintenance is crucial - get the a car with FSH if possible, get the vin or reg and ask members to do a check for you.

i have a E46 with over 228 000km and when i recently took her in, the workshop owner said she was in wonderful condition and needs minor things here and there - moral of the story is that a well maintained BMW can age very well

Walk away from cars that haven't been looked after, or "too good to be true" deals, it will hurt you in the long run.

E90 320d and 330d's have proven to be very reliable, with minimal issues, IF the previous owner looked after the car properly.

Ive had mine for almost 4 years now, and in my opinion it the best bang for buck when you consider economy and power.

I think the 320d is the best all rounder car for the cash, it's an all rounder. Compared to the petrol it has loads more torque and fun factor, while being extremely light on diesel.

As above. Very good vehicle. Ensure that all the belts are in good shape. Most common issues is snapped fan belts and flat batteries if not used consistantly and if tracker units are faulty..

From the base models, of the e90, between the 320i and 320d, the diesel was the model to go for, i know i would. As said FSH is important, but you still need to do the necessary checks, try to look for a one owner car, so you will be the 2nd owner. I usually find that these type of cars, are better looked after.

Hmm with regards to turbo diesels, regular oil changes are recommended, if you take the car 2nd hand, plan to do these more regularly rather that sticking to the manufacturers recommendation. If memory serves me the e90 engines dont have the swirl flap of death syndrome the e46's had, so thats positive.

Other than that, the early non LCI models with the RFT tires and suspension setup which was a bit hard, you may need to invest in replacing the suspension rubbers, if they have never been done, you are going to need to do that.

With 89000km on the clock that 320d should still be in good nick. All e90s need their suspensions looked at from about 150000km which you are still far from - change common ware items (bushes). Regular services, some guys swear buy a 7500km service interval, others say 10000km - your choice.
Otherwise a 320d is a perfect all rounder and it's fuel consumption is second to none in the e90 range. You can also make it faster with some software and decat.

Oh, didn't realise the 320d was sold already. Happy hunting.
