Greetings fanatics,

I need advice on this; Im considering buying a 320i 2011 model face lifts it has 94 000km. The asking price is R 95 000. I need to know any potential risk regarding this type of car (parts failures etc). It already has six years on the road, how many more killos can this type of car take. Also thoughts on the price.

The current owner is a friend of mine so I know the vehicle was in good care

Many Thanks
Silver

That is a great price for the year model I think, if the car is clean. I had my car up until 186k km and had never done valve stem seals (The link below is generally the biggest item that goes on these cars. Had the vacuum pump seals and tappet cover gasket done at about 160k km though. Reliable cars and easy to maintain. Pretty much the same motor as the E46 318i LCI.

If it's an auto it might be a bit heavy on fuel and a bit lethargic in general.

Seems like a good price, I would just change the oil every 10 000km.

Valve stem Seals usually go around the 150000km , between R3000 - R8000 to fix.
ive heard of valvetronic motors go pop , but not very common.
besides normal services, brakes and tyres I doubt you'l have to spend any money on repairs, they are pretty reliable.

as above , if its auto it will be heavy in town driving. my brother use to average 10l/100km in peak traffic on his 320i auto.

a 2011 model with that mileage and at that price sounds really good, make sure you motorplan ran its full course and no major accidents.

Does the manual make a big difference in terms of performance and economy? The E92 320i auto I had was horribly sluggish and used more fuel than the WRX my brother had at the time!

Is it manual or auto?

I have a 2011 E90 320i and it hit 180k yesterday, no trouble at all

Yes it does. Manual E90 320i is fine. ANd petrol consumption is not bad.

The manual is a bit better.
