Advice on a secondhand F20

As per the title

The car is a F20
2012 118i M Sport
Steptronic
103000KM

Can get it for 200K

I've managed to get the VIN and pulled the Maintenance plan history attached below.

A bit worried about the part i highlighted in red and also the common leak they seem to be fixing. Am i being paranoid or is it reason to walk away?

Thanks

R200k seems quite excessive for a 5 year old 118i with 100 000km on the clock?

A quick Autotrader search reveals that you can get a model with 14 000km less on the clock for R10 000 less.

Furthermore, it seems as if this car had issues with the engine, which can hint at future problems.

If I were you I would not consider this car, purely out of a price perspective for this model.

I found a Midnight Blue F20 118i A/T stock standard (Not M Sport)

Only optional extra is leather and Y Rims

39000KM - Motorplan till Feb 2018

210K

Worth it?

n20 motors have been rather problematic!!!

buy Diesel

This car runs the N16 BMW/Prince engine.

Had one, I still think the 125kw derivative is a highly underrated car.. Fun car to drive about.. Engine sounds a bit weird and noisy, also had issues with sensors and Vanos unit and remote key fob issue.

Other than that I could not fault it..

I bought an early 2012 F20 118i auto non-Motorsport. Options included Oyster Leather, sunroof and Y Rims... bought it from BMW (so a slight premium on price) in June last year for R220k with 86k on the clock and MP till Jan this year.

As others mentioned above, the pre-LCi engine is very very under-rated... the engine fix was done over 50 000km ago, so if it has not come back it would be alright in my mind to think they fixed it properly. I would check the turbo and water pump as they are known to go at around 100k... On my car both of those and the timing chain were done under MP and I still love getting into the car every day!

Re the R200k price tag... yes there are cheaper options and others with different repairs but if the car checks out and is the spec you want, I don't think you are over paying.

On a side note... my sister-in-law has a 2015 LCi 118i... the 3 pot / 100kw engine... her engine has been rebuilt and turbo replaced (separate incidences) and the car has not yet covered 35k!!! The new engine are also noticeably pup in comparison

if finance has gone through and you never yet sign and take delivery you have no obligation to take this car.... And Dealer cannot do jack about it
