I owned a 2007 E90 320i MSport for 5 years and I loved it. I owned it from 120 000km to 170 000km. In that 5 years these were the costs.
2010 Tires R9,000.00
2010 Service R1,000.00
2011 Service R1,000.00
2012 Service R1,000.00
2012 Brakes R3,500.00
2013 Service R1,000.00
2013 Clutch R7,000.00
2014 Service R1,100.00
Total R24,600.00

I sold it two months ago. Now I want to replace it with an 09 320i.

My question is....Would I be wrong to expect similar running costs?

If it is the 09 e92, the maintenance costs should be more or less the same, depending on several factors I suppose, like for instance you can get Bridgestone RFs for R7600 at (HQ) instead of R9000 you mentioned above.

But I think what will be important though is the condition of the vehicle you will purchasing. If it has been well maintained then you should not be spending an arm an a leg for the 09 model, but if you will be replacing a lot of things on the car to bring it back to shape then you will most probably spend a bit more...
but I know e92 drivers loooove their sexy beasts so I am sure you will find one that is in excellent condition :coolShake:

It should be the same, however, I have never had to attend to clutch issues thus far, mileage is 153k no issues at all, although lot of people on the forum complain that the clutch is usually the problem on most 320s(e90)

I have recently changed all disks and pads for less than 10k...
