Absolutely awesome that this car stays in the Fanatic's family! I reckon if I had loads more under cover parking space and, well, loads of mulla, I would adopt as many of these rare pristine BMW examples, even if just to keep them out of the hands of those who don't look after their cars or neglect them.

*** Thinks of the vid of that "BMW Dream Garage" that was posted here a while ago!!! ***

Thanks for all the comments guys , this is one awesome machine, and that noise it is just something else, I just knew I needed that kind of noise in my life (Uber did a good job of pointing it out every time I saw him :))

@LZ: I am glad you like them, thought I might be pushing it by modding the car within 12 hours of having it :mmm: :)

@Fordkoppie: There really just is something about the e34's (granted I like almost all old BMW's :))

@P1000: Basically I was looking for an e34 540i, and I spotted a good looking one so I contacted among others leonard for his experience with e34's, but unfortunately this e34 was sold just the day before I contacted the seller (what are the chances). Then the evening before the last meet Leonard called me and asked me: "You want a 540i, right?". So the next day of the meet I went to have a look at the car, not that is was really needed since had seen the inside of engine before :) and just to test drive it. The next weekend my brother went to test drive it (friday), since we would be buying the car together. After the test drive he said he also thinks we should get it, I called Leonard we sorted out a couple of things yesterday morning. And that is my part of the story.

@andrew: Nope it does not have a LSD, it doesn't really need any help going sideways :mmm: A tint is definitely in the not to distant future, already spoke to second skynz about it :). But for now there are first a couple of things that must be done but after that, I will be looking at things like wheels, tint, etc.

@Twins: The garage is still actually a bit of work in progress (The only reason the garage look ok is because all the BMW part are in my bedroom :))

@LZ: Yup it is our intention to look after it very well, hopefully if makes you sleep a bit easier knowing the e34 is not to far away, now go and enjoy your M5 :)

@WyKid: Thanks for welcoming me to the brotherhood, I am glad to be part of it :)

@Sith: You say project car, but leonard has already done so much on this car, it can be used as a daily in its current condition.

@1two5guy: And the point of your post would be?

And as I promised, some more pics, after it has been cleaned a bit, and polished. I don't think the photos really do it justice, I am just amazed how good the condition of the paint it.

Very nice! Photos may not be able to show the condition of the paint, but it looks spotless - what does the paint surface feel like when you run your finger along it? Looks like it should be as smooth as silk! Can see this car has been very well looked after and kept clean - the inner areas of the driver's door looks very clean!!!

I can see the car is in excellent condition. Maybe I used the project car term too loosely, what I mean is that there will inevitably always be something small to repair or improve on an older car. These things are often simple, and fun, to rectify, and make the car perform or look better, giving you great satisfaction once you have completed the job. Examples, and my 2c worth, based on the photos: Like those e39 wheels, but would replace with the originals. Would put the "540i" badge back on the bootlid. I also like those rear black rubber licence plate holders on these cars. See you also need to replace the body seal/gasket/rubber by your driver's door. Congrats again, enjoy and have fun with this beauty:)

Oh I baught a 540i badge a while ago, its sitting in my garage. The car never came with a stupid fake //M badge when I got it, so that had to go. You can have it next time I see you

In terms of mods, where I suck doing mods is cosmetic, if something looks clean and neat, I could not be bothered with it, but then you see a car like Ants, Alvins or even what Jandre's is turning out to be, so I say mod away boys, you both know the line between style and cheese very well

As for the paint, well it needs a bit of work, and there is a slight color mismatch on the nose of the car, but you really have to be anal to notice it.

As for using the car as a daily driver, I did, for months on end, 40km in the morning, 40km at night...

Anyways, not my car anymore, enjoy boys, she is in good hands.... I have new toys as you point out, evolution is both a blessing and a curse. :)

Psst... that stupid window is fixed, and the M is getting a split system today :)

@philip: Yup, it is pretty smooth, but not as smooth as it could be, but I don't want to polish it too much all at once. It was just to remove the worse scratches and stuff from the paint.

@Sith: Yup, you are exactly right, there are just a couple of small things than need to attending too. Lets just say the car is a toy, ie it will not be driven everyday, though with the V8 soundtrack I might end up driving it a lot :)

@Rick: +1 In fact I actually posted this pic where the projector in one of the headlights is clearly visible.

I would also like to add that one of the things planned for the car is to retrofit proper bi-xenon projectors into the standard headlights, but for now these projectors work fine.

Edit: I can assure you that all/any mods will be very classy (The brotherhood has spoken :)), I can't say that I even noticed any colour mismatch.
I am glad you got the window sorted. And thanks for the 540i badge :)

@Sankekur.. I think a Quad Projector + Xenon would be awesome :) Maybe look into the Newer Xenon tech, as stated in another thread the E90 does not have a normal bulb for the high beams.. so even when the headlights are off & you flash to pass the xenon goes on & off.. they do not seem to suffer from the slower warm up times..

Awesome stuff....Would have thought Xenons would be the first mod..

Did this one get a LSD??? If not then thats the next mod you must do..

Then some deep dish massive wheels :)

And some 20% tint

At least its with a fanatic.. but I thought LZ bought it back from Werner the other day..

Cant keep track of who owns this car.. Its almost as bad as keeping track of where Clutchplate is living

Clutch, that does look good, I do like the mesh wheels, might want to go for some that are a bit bigger, would also like to get clears all round. I am not to sure about any body kits yet, but if I get my hands a M-tech kit I will not say no  (or the kit that uber has for that matter :))

Cois, don't try your luck :nono: ........ :) will see what we can do
