A Hot Hatch addition (not a BMW)

So some of you may have seen a post a while back on when last have you seen a MK2 Ford Focus RS. With only 60 brought into SA and only coming in 3 colours (performance blue, green, and white) they are a rare sight on our roads.

I have mentioned previously that there is one in the family and …

I know I have a problem, if something is rare and awesome to drive I just can’t help myself. No. 35/60 is now tucked away in my garage.

Car is a one owner (it belonged to my father in law - was with him when we collected it from Ford back in 2010).

Just sent her into Ford for major service, cambelt, water pump , ancillary belts , and all fluids. Need to sort out a few small things to bring her to showroom condition - it’s an awesome car as is.

Car is stock apart from KW height adjustable coilovers and Airtec intercooler.

Congrats. Lovely car man! They are rare, look amazing and that 5 pot sounds so sweet.

“I know I have a problem, if something is rare and awesome to drive I just can’t help myself” nice problem to have 😂😂. Enjoy it! This car still turns heads.

Those Arches...

Lovely! Please take more pics of it in the sun and so we can admire the different angles.

They sound so good, especially in these days of Hybrids and small 3 cylinders

These RS are special cars, i remember seeing a Mk1 Focus RS in Germiston many years ago, whether it was a kit, or the real deal, i have no idea. But they do definitely turn heads.

I love older models, and have always, since childhood, wanted a Audi Sport Quattro (1985 body style). They will always hold a special place in my mind.

Thanks guys . So have had her now for a two weeks but not driving her much till I sort out everything:

Main thing now is a boost leak from the boost pipe between intercooler and throttle bodies. Challenge with Ford in general is parts and their obsession to discontinue things (granted there aren’t many RS around) - but they do discontinue parts even for normal Ford’s.

Trying to get space in a workshop in the east rand that specialises with these cars ( manage to get myself onto WhatsApp group with other mk2 RS owners -so that helps)
they will fabricate aluminium boost pipes for me. Seems to be a common issue.

Next thing to sort out is some deep scratches on the one fender - car was in a storeroom and the guard dog manage to get in and scratched the car. Flippen irritating but will need to spray the fender and bonnet (one scratch that is too deep thereon) and I might as well the redo the bumper for stone chips. Got a quote from Eagle Corner Ford - heard good things about their work and price was not too crazy. POA is sort out the boost leak first and then get the scratches sorted.

Ford also reported that the radiator has tell tale signs of seeping - again part discounted . Looking for options out there (airtec does an upgraded aluminium one that I could import but price is steep) - was also thinking of just monitoring how much water it actually loses and make a call from there.

A cover on wiper disappeared but have gotten that from ford- just need to find some time and go pick it up.

Pic of the damage

Yep agree more pics required. Have been crazy busy at work so sadly been in the office mostly - no really good pics yet

RS are aggressive looking things and awesome to drive. Very smooth motors with lots of grunt and the handling on these are insane. Gear shifts are also brilliant.

Congrats on the new wheels.

I really like these 5-cyl STs. It brings back fond memories of when I first got the 130i. My colleague/friend got the regular ST, 3-dr and also blue, and we had a good few friendly runs down to Mexico.

They also respond well to mild mods.

Looking forward to future updates...
