As far as I know the 325is Evo II came from the factory with a 2.7l engine (327is)

Though what I know about E30's is dangerous, but thats what I got from a quick Google

That is 100% correct, and the same reason why a pristine example of one can still fetch a price well above R100k

Correction, if memory serves me correct the first Shadowline had a slightly higher compression engine which produced 126 Kilowatt. This engine was later standardised on the 325i. The Evo2 325iS also had a shorter diff ratio to compensate for the heavier steel body.

Yes, the EVO I is not badged a 325iS, it is originally badged 325i on the bootlid with the iS bodykit, I will go and look it up, but almost sure that this is the Shadowline.

Some pics from Sunday:

Evo 1 was badged 325is OAF vin
Evo 2 was badged 325is OEJ vin
Both were 2.7l. Both had 5 stud bbs rims. Both had no back headrests. evo 1 had different air intake and no underbody cover (splitter). The one you're thinking about is the 325i shadowline (aka 325i sport) with optional m-tech body kit with 4 stud wheels from (I think) '88/'89. These had back headrests. The first shadowline +/-'87 was the small bumper 2dr 325i with colour coded bumpers (no chrome), pin stripe along the side and black, no chrome around windows. The sport and shadowline was 126kw, evo1 145kw & evo2 155kw. I actually found a nice CAR mag article on e30clubsa.co.za on the 325i Sport.

looking at all the images posted so far, it seems to have a reasonably one sided showing
what was missing, to have made it spectacular would have been some
E32's
E34's
E38's
E39's

allas just a few to many modern day "aggresive and SHOUTY" 1's and 3's and a few classic E30's

E34 and E39 mafia absent totally

I felt it too hot and lost the urge to keep walking and taking pictures. A tired 4 yr old didn't help either. I didn't get to see everything due to this and probably won't attend if it is similar weather next year.

I would pay a fee to enter or to display my car if it meant closed area. ...and shade

Not quite, both Rodga and myself were there representing the E39's.

We had quite a unique combination of an Individual sedan and MSport touring, though this may have been lost on the majority of the crowd.

Yes, this would totally negate the need for it to be a sunny day, although I think the turnout will be less regardless of the fact it being covered if it is a rainy day.

Not sure about that but guess the newer models and E30's got the most attention.
