530d auto box problems

Hi
I need some help with my 530d 2002 E39 auto box. If I shift to drive or reverse and push the throttle, the car just revs but does not move forward.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Where can I get a second hand box if needed?

Your advice will surely help.

Sorry to tell you this bud.

Start looking for a new gearbox.

THis is a known fault on the GM gearbox'es fitted on your car.

You can have the box rebuilt, but your in for like 25k..

E39 530d gearboxes are notorious for this, they're a bit weak in design, you're looking at probably 15k or so for a rebuild, probably more :fencelook:

it has a manual gearbox
you can have it for 70k perhaps slightly negotiable

I don't know if they're the same, but I have a fully refurbished gearbox for our 330d when its auto box packs up (again). But I want to rather convert it to a manual. I'm sure we can make a deal if you're interested.

My father had the refurb done about 2 years ago. He has since passed away. And the gearbox is in his factory.
