Do you think this is good for a 320d A/T? this is now on an open road with cruise control between 130km/h and 140km/h (moet my nie skiet nie Coisman)

I have read that some guys get 4.5l / 100km with the same car, but I am not sure if that is just :bs:

What do you guys think?:dunno:

I remember the best I EVER got in my 320d was 4.3l/100 doing 125km/h from Pretoria to Lichtenburg.
This was including the slowing down, stopping at tollgates and the gravel road to the farm.
It can be one, I still have the petrol book to prove it

I tried my best to go below 5l but the lowest I got was 5.8l. Still not complaining about it though, 17.2km/l is really good in my opinion.

It should not make a difference on the open road...

Did you have the 6 speed Coisman?

If so, that may be the reason, mine is a 5 speed auto

Yes, that number is real good. I normally get about a 5.4l on the open road. On my normal combined driving cycle I get 7.6l

what people must remember is there is a lot of factors when it come fuel consumption. I know it was a small difference with on this level of economy is things can have a effect. some thing:
tyre size
tyre pressure
tyre make and model
weather conditions
road surface
carry load in car
I have seen difference in petrol between brands not sure about diesel

My new 320d averages 8.3 and it's auto .

My 2007 320d Auto seems to avarage 6.1lt/100km which I dont complain about. Best I ever got was 4.9lt/100km with cruise control @ 140km/h and only me in the car.

Hi Tumo

I had a 2003 320d and on one trip to Ladysmith I got 4.0l/100km. kid you not!!

It was at between 90km/h and 100km/h so it frustrated the hell out of me, but I could not beleive the economy.

It was a 5 speed manual and I got on average 5.8l/100km for day to day driving.

granted, I drove it like a granny, but my pocket was happy.

Too bad about all the repairs that the car required:
- 3 turbos
- intake manifold
- injectors done twice
- the usual control arm bushes
- radiator expansion tank
etc etc

Had the car for about 80k km, but will probably never buy another 2.0d. 3.0d is another story though

Enjoy the torque and the car.

Ciao
