Your attention to detail to the internals of the car is better than most people attention to detail to the outside of their cars

Adamr, you have no idea. Peter is meticulous and does some amazing work. Won't ever trust my car with anyone else ever... EVER...

I know Peter only works on cars that interest him, but if I ever buy a Prius and it needs engine work, I'll hold Peter hostage until he does his magic.

Thank you for your compliment.

The work on the M3s is particularly expensive and an owner who commits that much financial resource to his car is deserving of "detailed work". (I equally believe that when we work on a car the level of "workmanship" should at the least be equal to that which we apply to our own cars)

I would expect no less if I were the owner.
Unfortunately I have been on the receiving end of tardy work from agents and would not wish to have it passed on.

Today we had the car in for a bit of tweaking to the cam settings and to diagnose a noise from the vanos area.

The noise was determined to emanate from the spline shafts as we have a distinctive rattle when the car is accelerated and then the noise goes away.

From that we have been able to deduce that it is good practice to do rattle and seals at the same time as the increased pressure against the spline shaft will bring out any weakness and one lands up doing the vanos strip down twice.
(In this case I advised Neesh against the need of the rattle kit being done as the vanos sounded quiet....clearly I was wrong and will be doing the rattle kit as soon as time permits with Neesh's schedule and availability).

After the tweaks fuel consumption is at 11,8 and the engine has smoothed out.

Looking forward to the results of some private testing that has been scheduled for later on in the week.

It is now officially the fastest and most powerful N/A S54 I have seen to date.
+1 on this.
I am yet to see an faster one. On some launch runs I could not catch this e46 M3. This was before he went for some Vanos goodness.

time for 4piper to go dyno and see if these vanos tweaks/maintenance made a difference.

Well done once again Axis for the in depth detailed work and pictures. Always interesting to see what the findings are and how the work is being done.

:bravo:
