335i vs 330d vs 320d: What to get?

Gents with regards to a 335i, as soon as you get it one of the first things you must do is take it to George(Carbon Doctor) for a carbon clean. On motors with bad build up, once the clean is done it is possible to drop your consumption by 2-3l/100km in urban driving and at least 1l/100km on the open road.

Don't forget Carfind... Better than AutoTrader in my opinion.

That would be the best deal! :O

Problem is, I can only do this end of the month at the earliest. So I will start looking at what is available then. I was just wondering if I will be able to find what I want in my price range.

Sabretooth, that car is almost exactly what I want in the 320d. :praise:

Here is one of the reasons why I am tired of the 320i. I took the vid last night.

I paid R120k for my 2006 330d manual with 150k on the clock. Granted it hasn't got the m-sport kit and I've had to spend around R25k on repairs and maintenance, but I'm still not too bad off considering I got the car for a good price.

I'd actually say get the LCI M-sport 320d, you won't have breathtaking performance, but it is still quite nippy. The autobox is known to be troublesome on some cars, but when it does pack up you can take it to ZF Germiston to have it fixed and/or serviced. As an all-rounder it's not easily beaten.

To put the performance between the 320i and my 330d into perspective, in that video - when you hit 110km/h, the 330d is already on about 170km/h.

Stock for stock the 335 isn't that much faster than a 330d in my experience. With both modded the speed difference may be substantially bigger.

Maybe the one I had a run with was running on 5 cylinders then :coolShake:

Fact is, the 320d, 330d and 335i are muuuuuuch quicker than the 320i. The OP wants that push in the back, and I don't think the 320d will be enough.

Just some advice. Never rush or set a deadline to buy a car. Search and you shall find. Maybe speak to some one at a dealership to keep an eye open and let you know when they get one in. Then I can tell you this if they get a nice clean one in you will have to be sure you first inline.

You will find the right one if you visit a dealer once a week for example or maybe some one pn the forum will help in your search that works at a dealership

Thanks again to everyone for the advice! It is really appreciated.

:ty::blowheart:

My heart is still set on the 330D, but the 320d is also a great option.

As you said Iceman, when I am ready, I will take my time.

I will look out for 330Ds and 320Ds and depending on what's available, I will purchase. I just want to be sure I am ready to buy when I start asking people to keep a look out for me.

:hammerhead: I spent 4k on the exhaust and tips... No improvement on anything what so ever. Just sounds and looks a little better.

I dont think I should do any further mods if I want to sell it. I am already worried what a dealership/garage is going to say about the blacked out kidneys on the hood.

Traded my car in with plastidipped black kidney grills, straight pipe twin exhaust tips and normal pirreli tires. No idea if they noticed, they were too impressed with the condition the car was in to notice I suppose.
