335I N55 Rattle on Cold start

What's up guys,

Has anyone experienced a rattle coming from the engine bay on a LCI 335i N55 BM.

I've noticed it when 1st drove the car and its actually started to annoy me.

Car is currently at BM Clearwater for an investigation.

Has anyone else even heard or experienced the rattle upon cold start.

Yep

Have you had any mods done top the car
this could be a few things

Wastegate problem
Wastegate Actuator arm

No mods yet.

Just popped my head in there and found that removing the ECU is almost completely impossible..

Other than that the car is stock.

Didn't this described problems only occur on N54?

Are there any quick fixes or only BM that can sort it.

If you don't mind me asking, what happens to the wastegate? Dos the rod just come loose or what?

Does it rattle just while idling?

I actually heard it as well on the way to the dealer on Friday as well. As I pulled off at the traffic light and car shifted into 3 I could hear that distinct rattle again.

Sometimes the rattle could be detonation, where the care is running too lean, when cold, the choke may not be kicking in or staying on long enough.

Psypher. Sorry. Should have updated this forum. Had the car at BM and they assure me that every 335i they checked and started has the same rattle. It's really irritating though. But BM says they can't do anything about. I actually thought that might happen. Hence me coming here at 1st.

I did read up somewhere that the wastegate just needs a bit of tensioning
Are you running JB4?
have you tried to play with the wastegate setting if you do

Good thing I read this. A week with my car and I've heard it 3 times now..

ONLY when the engine is cold, etc.. Once it's up to operating temp (118 / 120 deg from what I can see?) all is well. It does sound like a whistle so could be the wastegate? Anyway nothing beats the sound of this motor on cold start OMW! raise:

No JB4 yet guys. But looking at pulling the ecu and benching it.

The sound would be better if that damn rattle wasn't there tbh..
