335i N54 Blown head gasket

Hi All,
Found out today my E90 335i N54 with 140k kms blew head gasket and coolant has mixed with the oil.
Car is with RPM in Parklands and the prognosis does not seem good. Ryan was very honest and it's going to be expensive.....
Can anybody point me to any BMW specialists that could maybe assist me going forward.? New engine or rebuild... etc.

Its very rare that a N54 blows a head gasket to be honest.
do you have pictures of the oil/coolant mixture?
No saying i dont trust the mechanic who diagnosed, but sometimes there can be moisture from condensation that builds up in the Oil Cap, and that produces a Milkshake situation, but if its just on the cap, and not actually in the motor/Coolant bottle/or Oil Filter housing, then you could be fine.
What other symptoms did you have.

As for reputable garages, im not familiar with CPT vendors, other members shoul be able to give better feedback,.

Like was previously stated that’s rare on the N54. My recommendation if the head gasket is blown a used engine from a salvage place will be your best bet. BMW engines are really expensive to build both labor and parts. One more point it will be fixed quickly as opposed to rebuilding it.

Systems are the car over heated. Heard the BONG and warning on the dash. Pulled over and switch off for while. then limped home about 2 kms away.
Then next day drove around the block a few times to test and same situation happened.

Thats not conclusive proof to be very honest mate.
that looks like condensation in the Cap (it looks thick i know),

Check the Coolant bottle, open it up and look in there. then also open up the Oil Filter Housing and see if any milkshake there too.
If you overheated there may still be an issue somewhere.
Go to silverton radiators and ask for a Headgasket test with the liquid, they will confirm it.

That oil cap pic is not enough evidence. Have the car properly checked.

Howsit bud, I had a similar issue with mine, change your OFHG, flush the motor and the coolant (you may need to do this a few times). The reason the car overheated is most probably because your thermostat and waterpump need to be changed. have you read the codes? feel free to pm me if you need any help.

Hi, thanks for above.
Car is at RPM. I dont know if/what the codes are. Ryan did say the Thermostat is stuck closed. One thing I noticed before this happened was my heater was not working in this winter cold. It would only blow cold air. I didn't think anything of it.
I'm no mechanic so doing any of my own work is not going to happen. I have to trust RPM at this stage.
Actually waiting for feedback, did notice this weekend (drove past there) the car is inside the workshop.

Had a similar problem, it was the oil cooler. The malfunction caused oil to get into the cooling system. The oil displaced the water resulting in overheating warning. My oil cap looked similar.

Had to replace the oil cooler and flush the entire cooling system a good few times to get the oil out.

Not as serious as a blown head gasket.

Well thanks for all the advice above, much appreciated.
My N54 335i is back home and running nicely.
Had the head redone, no damage to the block. New thermostat and water pump. Here's to many happy km's.!

good to hear but, did you replace the oil cooler and oil filter housing gaskets too ? like some previous members pointed out, same happened to me, replaced above gaskets and all were good.

Can you please post a pic of the head gasket, I would love to see if it was actually blown as this is so rare. Also did the mechanic drain the oil and show it to you?

Did you do what everyone recommended and open the expansion tank cap and look inside and also the oil filter cap?

If I am honest this sounds to me like the mechanic had you at his mercy, Due to this you had to just believe anything he said and layout your hard earned cash.
