So,

My car should be out of motorplan by November this year.
It's an '08 335i Sedan (Manual) with 87 000 on the clock.

I logged onto BMW owner's circle to see possible MP extension costs.
Needless to say...

I see they removed the "time" option, you can only do it by KM.
Just as a matter of interest, this related to a cost of R2.78 per KM.

Go speak to your dealer & get them to check with Motorplan regarding the extension of just time & not mileage

+1. They do still to time or km's or both. Perhaps a problem with the website.

Obviously they would only advertise the most expensive option, as if thats all you think they offer, you would ask for that :)

For my dads E60, went to dealer & asked them to extend, was told the system shows that they cant, but they will contact motorplan, they then do a history checkup on the car etc and then decide what its going to cost

Stealerships are the biggest rip-offs in SA and BMW has one of the worse motorplans available.

I am sorry, cant agree with you on that. BMW has one of the most comprehensive motorplans available. Extending it is costly yes. if done in km's.

At that price, you can almost buy another car and keep it for spares :fencelook:

+1

172k could keep the 335i going for a lot longer than 1 year too!

phone BMW SA and ask for what you want.

If you want to extend it to 1 year and to 110 000km (ie. additional 23000km) its going to cost around R25k

Speak to a human. I did and they extended it to what I requested. I actually asked for something that wasnt even on the list and they accommodated me

My 320I (2008)has just done 81000 KM . Motorplan finishes at the end of July. BMW quoted me R7400.00 for the extra year or to 100000km. Not sure if it's worth it.. You can add the cost to your car's finance if your financed with BMW finance.

You cannot just add time, they can make provision and add 5000km and a year, I did it on mine (130) in April. Cost was R10500. As discussed, call in and speak to an agent.

EFT or credit card payment, direct to BMW South Africa (not done at the dealer) plan is extended within 72h IIRC.

We have done it twice on our old E46 & twice on the E60, so yes you can just add time

You can add just time, I've done so on all my previous cars as by the end of 5 years my mileage was always at 60 000km or less. So the extension was for 1 year or 100 000km, whichever came first.

EDIT: Ah Andrew you ninja, beat me to it :)

Obviously the website is a scare tactic, to say buy a new car, as extending service plan is expensive.

But maybe go to a dealer and have them quote.

Also keep in mind, its 100k extendable to 200 and max 7 years, taken from the build date, not registration date

(somebody correct me here if I am wrong)
