I always thought people who drive 335i's pretty much do it for the love of the raw power it delivers, with little regard for consumption. Or, more plainly put, if one could afford such a car, consumption matters little.

Guess I was wrong. :fencelook:

Must say though, after reading this thread I love my 320d even more.

Hahaha.
no way. You dont buy any turbocharged 6l for fuel consumption. I see the needle going down and think of the power I feel... Dont care about the needle no more...:roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:

It's not about trying to get 320d consumption or watching the pennies. It's nice to have an average consumption based on other people's experience as excessive fuel usage could point to something being wrong.

Take my current situation. Reported gearbox problem with BMW. They flushed it and said drive 500km and they will run their tests again. My first tank after the flush gave me 17.8l/100km driving as I did previously and getting in the 13s. So should I shrug my shoulders because it's a turbo charged 6 cyclinder? Something is obviously not right.:nonono:

You right. Something is wrong. Whatever software they have done suck.
Why dont you upgrade software. Do JB or xcede or one of those. At least you know the high on fuel issue will not be the software.

Yeah, pretty much what I thought. So I was a bit puzzled by the existence of this thread. :thinking:

Car is still under motorplan so don't want to mess just yet. Auto Atlantic did software and oil flush on gearbox. I hope end result is gearbox replacement.

Mine's now down to 12.9 :rollsmile:

I don't mind 14 during spirited driving; heck, that's what these machines are for!

THe F 30 335i sports auto

- about 8.3l/100km in peak traffic to jhb cbd on the M1 , a 35km trip {eco-Pro mode}

- same road leaving cbd at 14.00 , traffic free flowing and sped set to 100km /hr

I get 5l/100km {eco-pro}

My tank gives me around 750 km driving in a conservative fashion. Foot down I'm prob getting around 400-500km (Sports mode).

335 in Eco pro mode? I've tried that but can't handle the sluggishness [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

I've given the most optimal values which is based on eco-pro.

Mostly, I sit in bumper to bumper M1 traffic so the other settings don't really make a difference. Out of traffic(the highways) I'll go Sport. Actually these days I try and use Sport as much as possible-

After two years of owning my 1st BMW and recently going for an Intro High Performance BMW course I've come to realize that they must be driven hard. We drove those cars hard , my instructor managed to put the 335 we where in into limp mode , lol.

I've lost track of my consumption. The Eco Pro is great for peak hour but other than that I try and enjoy the sport mode when possible.

I average about 500kms out of a tank and average consumption of 12. Consumption is still better than my e90 325:thumbs:

I'm averaging 10.9-11.1l per 100km currently.
Current mileage is 21 000km

This is mostly city driving with a bit of highway thrown in.

After I done carbon clean I'm sittong on 9.5l/100km average. Momd you I have noticed that car is definitely lighter with software.

this comsumption is mostly achieved due to travelling from fourways to fairlands everyday. Some time spent in traffic and freeway.

On my '07 N54 E92 I would average around 12.8 - 13.5l per 100km stop start traffic. Open roads at national speed limits was around 9.5l per 100km.

When thrashing it, upwards of 16l per 100km.

The JB4 did reduce the consumption under normal driving by +- 0.8 - 1l per 100km. The carbon clean yielded the best results though, around 1.5l per 100 km less.

Checking my FuelLog Andriod App

From last 3 fill ups I got 11.92, 11.78 and 11.46. So I'm averaging 500kms per full tank. I do about 60% open road and 40% city driving.
