There is a good chance that is exactly the same pump, just in a different box.

correct .. is a possibility .. i know almost all their vw parts are from OEM manufacturers just some parts without the OEM part numbers printed on ..

When you think about it, just how many factories are producing these pumps? The OEM market is lucrative but the aftermarket thing probably not so much. High pressure fuel pumps are complicated pieces of kit. Tooling up for a potentially small market is a bit of a risk.

If the originals break at a prodigious rate, it does become worthwhile. I have a theory: if you want to know what breaks on a particular BMW (or any other car) just check what the aftermarket caters for. So, unless there is a huge market for 135i fuel pumps, you are looking at an original.

Having said that, the Chinese will copy and sell anything. What do you call a photocopier in China? The research and development office.

Goldwagen has many German products. Meyle is a leading German products.

I would suggest check the specifications of the product and compare to the OEM product of BMW. If the same, then go with GW.

e.g. a brake sensor at GW is R75 compare to R275 from BMW .... thats a no brainer!

do you know the make of the goldwagen one?

The fuel pumps for these cars are known to brake, but I think there isn't a lot of aftermarket manufacturers. I will call them again and try find out more information as where they get them from.

Before you replace, try Eddie at Pump-Rite in Durban on 031 709 6316. He repaired my M3 fuel pump for under R1K a year ago.

Yup, they say they have never stocked it :smashScreen:

They do claim to have a water pump for R690. But they do not have stock anywhere in the country:smashScreen:

Apologies for digging up an old post but I need to replace my HP fuel pump on my E88, N55 135i.

Goldwagen price is the same as BMW at 12k, and I'm considering a used model from IPC parts at 6K. They said I can return it if it does not work upon fitment. Is there any specific reason why I should stay away from the second hand part in this case? Finances are really tight at the moment and I would have to borrow the money in either event.

Appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Kind regards
Linden

Has your one failed? Or is it just that the levels are not working or something?
If things are tight, sometimes the gamble on a second hand piece might be worth it. See if they can give you a few months guarantee.
I suggest you check with other stores, they may have a cheaper alternative.

Hi Linden.

What are the symptoms that make you pin point it to the HPFP ?

OEM will always be more because of all the R&D that went into making the part, the reason the aftermarket is cheaper is because all they need to do is replicate it.
