335 - best rev to change up

Hi Guys,

What is the best rev to change up. The car seems to be making power up to 6000rpm but DS mode like to red line.

On a turbo car, it pointless to redline...at least on Subarus

Whats the general thinking here?

In DS or in auto manual mode...or normal manual mode? i ask since in Ds mode when my foot is planted the car has a mind of its own dpending on the map chosen. Hard off the mark, say 120-140...in DS mode my revs have never been above 5200...infact my best power is delivered under 4500rpms in short sprints in DS.

In DS manual mode.

I have only the standard map :-( Do you recommend I shift between 4500 and 5200?

The big mistake that people make with turbo cars, is that they try to drive them like NA cars which make more and more power the higher you rev basically, until the motor pops (potentially of course) :)

If you floor it hard, you will feel where you are making peak power and where it starts to drop off, you want to find the sweet spot between peak and where its starting to drop off, and timed right, so that when you change your next gear is going to get to that peak power asap again.

Something like that :mmm:

My GTI just makes a moerse amount of noise before the redline, and very little else.
Very true what Freerider said. I can feel a significant drop in power closer to the redline.
