Hope someone can help me.
I have a BMW 330i 2001 manual 65000 km. FSH. Just love the car. It have one problem though.
After driving for lets say 50KM, stop and then restart the car it sometimes struggle to start.(Don’t start with the first swing) When it then start it will easily dy again especially if you accelerate or just pull away normally. (If you put your foot on the accelerator the revs just drop) If I have started the car under these circumstances it has distinctively les power and feels sluggish.
This seems only to happen when it is warm outside.(Not necessary high engen temp.) It never happens if I cold start the car in my garage ore seldom during winter.
BMW did a diagnostic test but could not find anything wrong.

My guess would be the cam position sensor or the fuel pump. Best bet would be to have the codes read that should give you a better idea of what is wrong.

And I would just like to say: A 2001 330i with 65k km, wow :dropjaw:

Oh and welcome to the forum

Hi there!

Had a similar problem on my 330i, had the fuel pump changed but did not solve the problem.
Has your fuel filter ever been changed? (For some reason BMW never change the filter as it is not part of any service). The filter has a fuel pressure regulator attached to it and might be faulty.
My problem however was caused by a "leaking" injector and after replacing it everything was back to normal.
The next step would have been to replace the camshaft sensors as Sankekur has suggested. I think there's two of them so gonna be trial and error. And the pricey if bought from the agents.

Just my 2c...
Hope this helps though!

Cam sensor is a very good possibility... Have your codes read
when warm disconnect lug on cam sensor (usually inlet cam sensor) and then start, if it starts up without a hassle, points to duff sensor... You can check exhaust sensor also...

Also when engine warm n it gives you hassle to start, check your radiator hose, if its hard (swollen) have your thermostat replaced

Thaks for the advice.

Took the car to Donford BMW this morning. According to them it was the camshaft sensor. When I checked the invoice afterwards I saw that they called it a pulse generator. Not sure if that is the same thing. Price R1323.40 + labour R 229.10 + Vat.
Will report back if problem is solved

Thanks
