Before u kill the cats check the existing O2 sensors first. You don't wana spend all that money n still get 400km on a tank of fuel

Just a little update.

Noise Boys had a close look at my car, turns out the decat will be around 5k. Apparently they have to lower the motor to get the cats out. I do not trust the people that would be doing this job so I am looking at alternatives.

I replaced the rest of the exhaust with a 57" pipe and 2 small silencer boxes. The car now has a nice grunt and rumble to it. My fuel is now around 12l/100km, which is better but still not in line with what other people are getting.

It is a lot better than it was, but I will have to drive it a little more to be sure. Car will be going in as soon as month end arrives. Im taking it to my local mech to see if he can find any problem parts relating to the fuel consumption.

I will keep you gentleman updated.

Exhaust system was R2500. Including 2 silencer boxes and a nice exhaust tip.

I still have my old rear silencer, think I should sell it?

:( Ive been reading a lot on the subject, there is definitely something wrong with my car.

Maybe its the cats or CO sensors. I should have more info when I take my car to my mech.

thats not bad for a 57mm stainless steel system man .. post some pics of ur exhaust setup on ur ride thread ...

well put the silencer up on gumtree .. advertise a price and see what comes off it .. consider it money towards ur decat ...

also check with Viper Performance if they can assist ..

yo man .. havent heard from u in ages ... hows the car running?

Hey Teezy,

Been awhile. Very busy at work and so on.

A little update on the car,

After a lot of struggle and back and forth with BMW Menlyn, it is clear they feel it is no fault to the car and that it is my problem now. :RedNo:

Anyway, my mechanic claimed it was the fuel pump. Since that is also quite expensive I took my car to a bosch service centre close to my house and VIOLLA!

They did a diagnostic and reset something on my software. Not sure what they did.

My current tank is sitting at 485km and the computer say I have another 80km to go. The consumption meter on this tank now reads 10.8l/100km.

That is a lot more reasonable to me. I did some mixed driving and some 'fast' driving on the highway as well.

I will still however take my car for a decat in the near future.

Hello All,

Just a little update on my current consumption:

Spirited driving in town: 15l/100km
Normal driving in town traffic: 12l/100km
Open road highway driving: 8l/100km
Mixed consumption: 11.1l/100km

At the moment I'm managing to keep the car at around 11l/100km. With about 50/50 town and highway.

I am planning to trade the car in, so I won't be doing any more effort to reduce my consumption figures. Ultimately, it has forced me to swop the car for another BMW.

Beware when purchasing an E90 320i. Consumption is high and performance is lacking. :)

I average 12.5l/100km in town in my 3.6v6 2 ton Dodge, you should get better consumption than that. Myself and my swaer who has a 2015 Grand Cherokee 3.6 V6 played a bit the other day on a private road, and I only got as high as 13.8 l/100km

I think my car is just a lemon. Or something inside it is acting like a lemon.

Maybe decatting will resolve the problem. We will never know. :skit:
