320i E90 Fuel Consumption?

Yeah, adaptive throttle on some autoboxes, don't know if it is fitted to yours but worth a try imo. Bad fuel consumption could also mean stuffed/damaged catalytic converter. Good luck and keep us 320i brethren posted. :=):

Hi That is very high consumption I was also getting the same on my 320i auto but booked it in at bmw (MP) I think they reset the adaptations and it was much better in town i get about 8.9-9.5l/100km's depending on driving style and freeway around 7.5-7.9l/100km's dependent on driving if trying to push the car it goes up to about 8.5.

Where are you taking your car?
Remember, you don't ask you don't get. Complain about fuel consumption, ask them to reset gbox adaptations, ask if your software is up to date, ask for cat inspection. Don't think that taking your car 'home' to a dealer will put everything right. I've had to insist on some items being looked at even after the service dept cleared my car.

Thank you 3speed.

My car is going back to the dealer for a "Restraint System Faulty" error and also for the fuel consumption. I will ask them to make sure everything is up to date and reset all adaptations, throttle and gearbox. And of course a cat inspection.

:ty:

Now to get through the week with 14l/100km.... :blueCry:

Petrol is cheap now, you will survive!

:roflol:

untill zuma needs funds for nkandla 2 ......

did the throttle adaption ... and i dont think its only psychological .... car does feel more punchy on take off, and feels like its pulling better through the gears ... gear changes are still a bit harsh every now and then .. consumption dropped further down with some driving today .. done 165km, claims 650km still off the just over 3/4 tank left :biglol: which is very optimistic .. avg 8.2l/100km

will drive for a bit more and see how it goes ...

Hey guys,

I drive a 320i, 2008 Automatic model.

What should my fuel consumption be?

During traffic I get around 15 l/100km and on the open road I get it down to around 11 l/100km.

I could understand these figures if I was pushing the car the entire time, but I accelerate slowly and keep it below 140km/h on the open road.

I just just get 400km out of a tank with 80% city and 20% highway.

This sounds wrong to me, my Astra TS got better fuel consumption.

What can be causing this?

Hi Herco

I think it is important to take the average speed in to consideration as well. I have a 320i Auto. Long trips get between 6.2l/100km and 7.8l/100km fully loaded. (constant 120km/h) Average speed at 110km/h or slightly below, however in town get round about 11.2l/100km - 12,4l/100km average speed is as low as 23,5km/h

Therefore I think that you have to take that into account as well.

sounds about right. i got a quote for 2800. theres two cats to kill and two mini cats to install. it can be done cheaper but may not be a proffessional job. bite your tongue and do it the right way first time around
