320D waking up

Morning Guys, I have a strange question, I bought this 320D 2004 with 175000km on the clock, there was a little bit of black smoke when accelerating and the visco fan was seized.
So I replaced the visco clutch on Wednesday and the extra power was nice but now it seems the more I use the power, the more it gets, the black smoke is also gone, the car belonged to an elderly lady, can a car get "lazy" or is that just a myth?
What would the reason be for the improved performance or is that just my imagination?
I am now enjoying the Trip-tronic box with the more torque. Your input would be appreciated.

The car adapts to a driver the car is lazy as you say from her driving it. Read up on resetting throttle adaptions. You can do it yourself. Also give the car a nice hard drive once warmed and keep the revs high and constant.

sure it can get lazy.. one of the simplest things that can happen if a diesel never gets pushed a bit is that the cat can become blocked due to never getting nice and hot..

Also try putting the dieselboost additive in hen topping up the tank, it helps clean also (The LiquiMoli one is what i tried and it cleans and boosts). Worked wonders!

First things first, we need pics of the car, and congrats.
Secondly, welcome.

The comments about resetting throttle adaptations are accurate, do some research.
also, please note that when the car does not get to proper optimal operating temperature for extended periods of time, sludge does, can and will build in your engine compartment, slowing down the movement of the components that do move, giving you a very sluggish ride.

Diesels need some spirited driving from time to time, to get things moving properly, blocked/clogged catalytic converters can also cause problems with the car breathing..

The liqui-moly additive is very good quality in my opinion and well recommended by many car enthusiasts, not just BMW drivers.

try taking your car on a run to hartebeestpoort or something one weekend morning, and here and there, drive it hard.

You will find after a while, the throttle becomes more responsive, engine gets up to temp, all fluids circulate and all is well again.

think about your body dude.

The liqui moly is energade.
The spirited driving is a nice 20 min sprint, the blood gets pumping, the heart does its thing and after the run, you feel filled with vitality.

Thanks for the advice, I do resent the part about physical excersize though, I like BMW because they are fast, I am not, I am built for comfort.
