Hi Brads7
Before i had my lci mapped, i was also trying to get all info, figures and graphs so ill gladly help.:coolShake:
Map was done by ob at chiplogic.
Map is a safe, mild map, to preserve gearbox. I still have the Cat, saving up to eventually get a downpipe and remove cat.
this is before and after on a very stingy dyno
As you can see the map smoothed out the dip in power i had between 3500 and 4000rpm.
The low figures on the dyno were bugging me, so i went to a dyno day at Kar Racing, jhb's "bench mark' dyno.
this was the result:
My thoughts:
When i was doing my research i read posts from guys who had mapped their 320D's and said thy wish they should have done it earlier. I definitely agree!
It totally transforms the car. It no longer feels it runs out of steam after 3000rpm, and before where i would not be comfortable overtaking a car anywhere from 3rd gear on wards, i now have the confidence knowing i can safely over take cars safely should i need to.
Power wise, i love it. The car launches now! and somehow even sounds rortiar now even with out a downpipe. Even my friends who i haven't told that i have mapped it asked if i have done something to it because it sounds good for a 2.0 diesel. Still haven't had any runs, but im sure it will hold its own against a stock G6 GTI.
Consumption wise, my pre map consumption was 8.1 l/100km
Post map it is 7.9 l/100km/8.0 l/100km
This 98% urban driving. I never take the highways.
Smoke- if i drive conservatively, the smoke has not changed at all. if I accelerate hard then there is about 30% more smoke, BUT you only see this at night with a car behind you. I Would have love more power (really wanted to hit the 150wkw mark) but i didn't want my car smoking like a polo Sportline or Cupra that makes the day go dark with the cloud smoke.
If you remove the cat, then apparently it smokes more. But still will be acceptable and you wont be embarrassed driving around. I look froward to feeling the difference after removing it. I'm hoping it was increase responsiveness a low rpm. Then i believe il have perfect drivalbilty
I know the FR&R dyno is stingy, so i think even for a mild map, you are making very good power there :cartel:
The important thing is the smoothness of your graph and how the drive feels, and im sure you are happy with yours :coolShake:
