discussion 320d Shocks

Hi gents and ladies..

I need to replace my front shocks, but figured I'd do front and rear. So, i'd like to get your opinions on the following please:

1. The preferred shocks as advised by spare shops as well as from what I've read are the Bilstein's. Goldwagen quoted me almost R10k for shocks alone.
2. FK Coilovers are R7k for the MSport. With this I can do the wheel gap delete in the front too (Probably just like 20mm lower is what i need for the most). If I fit the
FK's, will I still enjoy the comfort i've been enjoying with the standard springs? Has anyone here fitted FK Coilover's to the E90's?

I dont have coilovers, but recentrly replaced the front shocks in my 2010 330d with bilsteins. The difference in ride quality is amazing. However , I also feel like the E90 is a bit of a kitten killer in stock form up front. Especially the exclusive

I wouldnt expect any comfort with the Fks.

If you want to add some low, Koni Special Active + H&R or Eibach springs.

If you want adjustability - B14 or B16 Bilstein Coilovers - will still sacrifice comfort, but not as bad as the FKs.

they are pricey - therefore a bit over kill for a 320d that is daily driven ?


Side note - If GW quoted you on Bilstein B4 shocks ...I would rather save the extra cash and go the OEM route (Sach) - provided you are keeping the stock springs

If you're willing to change shocks and springs, I suggest H&R Sport Springs together with the Koni Orange shocks if it's a daily driver.

I had this combo on mine and the handling improved significantly without compromising comfort, in fact I felt the ride got better.

My understanding.. R7k is the normal price for a set for your car, Peter is offering you a set R6k (assuming a discount being applied). I would honestly just go this route and consider a set of H&R sport springs.

I purchased my Koni Orange shocks from Peter and I paid R3.5k for my E46 H&R Sport springs (Retrofitters).. Car handles MUCH better than stock and ride is still pretty decent.

The Sport springs are the least aggressive drop at 35/20 so it was manageable as a daily but low enough to remove wheel gap with the 19's.

I used Koni SA (CRS Performance - Website) and dealt with Ashley.

Peter is offering you a really good deal though as I paid more than that in 2018 when I had them fitted. Maybe get the shocks fitted with Peter and go to Koni for the H&R's as their pricing was competitive.

I paid R4500 fitted in 2015 for the H&R's. So I'm not sure what pricing is now.
