320d EGR bypass - are the new measured values correct?

Hi

I did an EGR bypass (or whatever) now that my car has reached 100 000km. I blocked the vacuum line. The car feels better, but I believe it may have lost a little torque. I tested it last night - hard on the accelerator and the usual puff of smoke in the car behind's headlights is gone. After driving a bit I checked the coolant temp which was at 84C. Isn't that too cold? Shouldn't it be running nearer 100C? Or is the coolant temperature less than the oil temperature / engine temperature?

I'll see how the fuel consumption is on average by about a month from now, and I'm hoping for a slight gain there.

I dont know whether the coolant temps are correct. But how long were you driving for?

I doubt you lost anything doing the EGR delete if anything you should gain a bit.

Thanks. I was driving for almost an hour (about 30km). It reached 84C quite quickly and when I checked when I came to the end of the drive it was still there. When I did some fair accelerations it went up to 86C.

Now that I think of it, I reckon it was at 84 because I was driving very easy and I had the heater on 24C. I'm sure if I had switched off the heater and driven higher speeds it would get up to the 88C-90C which would seem normal. So I think there's nothing wrong with the 84C.
