320d e90 software at high mileage?

Hi all. I have been contemplating doing software on my 320d e90 for a while. Its used as my daily drive. Mileage is at 250000kms. I have done a downpipe about a year back and since then always heard both good and bad about remaping at high mileage. Car is healthy. Not smoking under acceleration or any sort.Services are done at 10000km intervals with only parts from BMW.

So the big questions...

Would a remap cause any damage to my car? Is it worth doing it at such high mileage?

I have the car for three years and havent had any major issues.

I would like to hear about experiences or knowledge on this particular model and the benefits or problems regarding a remap.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Loads on this if you search.

Damage no. Possibly bring out weak spots. Yes.

Will the turbo not be more vulnerable at this mileage after a remap?
I also have an E90 320d and have the same concerns.
Mileage on 150k kms.

All depends on the actual condition of the turbo which is difficult to ascertain. If the turbo is healthy, the software isn't going to damage it, but if the turbo is on it's last legs, software will in theory highlight this. Pushing more power out of a vehicle is always going to put more strain on certain components, and these components have a lifespan, the problem comes in whereby sometimes these components fail earlier on one person's vehicle than another, so the specific lifespan is always hard to determine.

My dad had an E46 330d, sold it to a friend of his with 210 000 km, still on original turbo, at 215 000 km we put software on the vehicle for his friend, friend eventually sold the vehicle on 265 000 km, still on original turbo and still running strong.

There is always going to be a risk involved when modding a car, however if done properly, and with the knowledge of what else may need to be done (downpipe, intercooler, etc) to help the vehicle run efficiently, these risks can be mitigated.
