I drive a BMW 320D E90 2008 pre Sept. with 100800km on the clock
I recently experienced the weirdest thing. I left work and about a block away my engine light came on. at the next intersection the car went into limp mode and ejected a kind of light/grey smoke. I immediately drove the car to a BMW dealer which was also a block away.
The car stayed there for about 3days and I got the news that the turbo needs to be replaced. (never received the diagnostic report)
I opted for a second opinion and had the car towed to a independent service agent. They informed me that there is nothing wrong with the car. or nothing about the turbo coming up on the diagnostics. Drove the vehicle for 100km, 50km really hard and 50km normal driving with no lights coming on, or turbo lag. After this they did pick up a censor in the emission system that was not reading the temp right.
My question is: how can one service agent tell me that the Turbo is gone and another only a censor? Has this kind of thing ever happen with someone here?
Any advice?
