Congrats

Now enjoy the car. If there was a lack of power I would be worried but if it is more than you expected then enjoy no matter from whence the blessings

having had ex - spouse work at BMW, it was not uncommon for them to chip their diesels that they had as "demo/work" cars. Drove a 330d once that was the W/S managers car and could not believe the urgency of the power delivery - TC light used to flash momentarily every time you gave it some juice - sounds like your "worry". Only thing is they used to take the "mod" out when the car was sold on - but sounds like you have bought new so cant really explain, unless it was done as a designated "dealer" car and then sold on with them forgetting?? :fencelook:

Anyhow, enough rambling - congrats and enjoy!!

Sounds very much like what I noticed with the 320d auto that I had for a day earlier this year. Felt very sorry for the engine when in normal D mode since it was shifting up to the taller gears and allowing the revs to fall to between 1200 - 1500 rpm at times! Lots of torsional stress I would think. But keep it in DS mode and the revs/gears are a lot more sensible. Plant your foot and this thing takes off! Same thing with launching, has fantastic "bite" off the line! :praise:

Since there is a lack of pics in this thread, here's the "plain Jane" 320d that we had for the day...

Do you think that is low? F30 constantly in that range if driving normally. 1900 rpm or so when cruising 130km/h

And on my dad's E90 323 in DS it would ref way too high.

Well, in the petrol I would think it's just going to run the engine at max torque band, so higher revs. I think the engine in that 320d that I had is the same as the one in the F30, just not the same fantastic new gearbox. But when we took the F30 320d for a test drive at the launch it felt pretty much the same too. And the E90 that I had, the average fuel consumption was sitting on 7.7 l/100 km when I picked the car up, could see that it had not been reset in a very long time, but even so, after a day with me driving it and at times really putting it through its paces, the consumption dropped to 7.6 l/100 km!! :praise:

I really love my 330i and its engine note, engine characteristics etc. But the economy and tractability that these 320d's have is just astonishing, especially in normal day to day driving!!

Just got back from a little test run, yes the problem is still there on my car as well. Well its one of those problems you wanna have.:inlove:

So I take it you prefer the 320d to your ex-325i? I'm sure you will only miss the beautiful straight 6 exhaust note from the 325i, other than that 320d ftw! Save on fuel too.

thanks Guys
i will post pics on Monday
trust me i am not complaining.

Just checking if the other 320ds do the same thing.
That 325i tone is all i miss:=):

Nice car first of all...

Does sounds stupid but mine does the same or is it just that you got used to the boost and it simply does not feel that big for you. or is it noticeable on the Speedo or dials?

My opinion is the car is performing the same and that you just got used to the feeling of the Boost.

Any opinions?

Change of climate = WINTER

Turbo cars love the cold weather

i have owned a 20v Turbo for the last 2 years so its not new.
Its just my 20v was more leaned out as this comes in hard.

i can only imagine how the ones with software run.

It the short powerband, lots of power to deliver in a short space of time.

You know what... I get this thread.

I hate that my girl friend looks like Scarlett Johansson. :yuck:

I can brag in the form of a complaint as well.
