320 Diesel: Siren-like sounds

I own a 2002 320 Diesel. The car started making siren-like noises when accelerating and decelerating. It even has it when the car is standing still and I give it some gas. The turbo was then overhauled(NS 5200.00) but the sound still persist. The BMW mechanic now claims it "can be" the CAT converter. Please help.

That siren sound is normally turbo failure related but if it has been fixed then it is probably something else. Try and get another assessment and have the car scanned again.

All the best.

Thanx for your reply> Took it to a turbo specialist this morning> He says his guess is that it is a leak in the intake manifold or a perished or loose vacuum pipe. Will see what problem is Monday morning. Do you think he could be right?
