Book the car in with JSN if you are not happy

Might just do that!

Just reversed out the garage, and there’s a f638.ing puddle of oil where it was parked

A puddle of oil I assume and its only going back on the 20th?? That is ludicrous. And so much for the 'BMW SA Engineer' that gave it a 'clean bill if health'...ppffff

None of this seems right for a maintenance plan car.. Had a fair share of problems on the 318i a while back and as frustrating as it was.. We had courtesy cars all the time each time the car broke down..

Take the car to another dealer as recommended in this thread as well..

The puddle I suspect was left overs from the pipes to the oil cooler for the gearbox coming loose, apparently there is 1 bolt holding them in place , which mysteriously came loose..

I just need to plan things out a bit better , JSN , is in Randburg , I’m in springs , hence going to bmw carnival , I’ve heard horror stories about Boksburg, so avoiding that one? Next closest that I’ve heard about is the glen , but even then , logistically it’s a ball ache

There is also BMW Bruma in Bedfordview

Ahh, will see, BMW Head office is to confirm, but there is apparently a meeting happening with myself , and them at carnival on the 20th. Me saying that I feel that this vehicle is no longer fit for the purpose I bought it, which was a reliable vehicle has raised a big red flag

I am beyond words,

been to another dealership, and the car has been at bmw head office now for 3 weeks,

to roll back the story a bit

* recap *
intermittent misfire, apparently carbon build up, gearbox caked itself, and more recently fuel tank not put back together properly**

so bmw south africa says , they cannot reproduce the misfire, so in a nut shell, there is nothing they can do further.

So now my car comes back tomorrow, and still has the hiccup's , and purely becauset they cannot reproduce this, im most likely stuck with this car that they cannot or do not want to fix because it involves actual thinking work, not not just what a f@#$%ing computer tells them to do

That's absolute BS bud. Do not accept it. They need to replace the engine or replace the car!

Thing is, I doubt it’s a engine problem, I’ve grown up with my dad a mechanic, been fixing cars my whole life, I’m convinced it’s an electrical problem, which actually requires them to do some proper diagnostic work, which apparently bmw is incapable of.

They only follow software , written by a software engineer , they don’t know how to mechanic anymore :(

Head office was still trying to say they going to wash the car, told them just to return the piece of shit, I’m done :(

Was supposed to get my car back, emailed them early yestetdsy to ask for all the documentation relating to this case ,as I intend taking this up with the moisa .all
If a sudden they leaving the car a few more days to get rud of the fumes, ( this is from them not assembling the fuel tank correctly and my back seat area getting fueled )

Do you at least have a loaner?

I Have been through a slew of loaners, fortunately they have come to the party with this, much higher risk to me with their insurance vs mine, but yeah, at least im mobile.

Shocking really, none of it makes sense...

Dealerships would much rather bill motorplan for a new engine than doing all this work, and I've never heard of a BMW dealership that would undertake this kind of work under motorplan (most of them don't even know what carbon cleaning is)...

Especially since they wouldn't get paid for it?

I would be so livid I'd drive the car in its moer in and then book it in for a technical issue. If something is really wrong with the car (and I believe you that there is) driving the hell out of it will 'reproduce' it quickly and hopefully escalate the problem to the point where any fool can see the issue and nothing needs to be 'reproduced'. Stories like this annoys me so much because I can relate - 'customer' service is nothing but a blood pressure catalyst in 90% of the cases. They should add customer service as a cause of stress seeing as stress is now officially been listed as a medical condition.

Good luck and hopefully its sorted soon. In my case I took the workshop manager for a drive and replicated the issue for him after struggling for a year with them. Funny enough it was sorted out 10min later and the next day letters of apology from the service agent, the DP and BMW SA. I assume that they think all their customers are too stupid to understand what's going on with cars we drive every day.

Got the car back last week, seems to be behaving , they ended up replacing a vapor vent value ( funny looking part on top of the engine )
